In Project Jubilee, I will provide instruction for students that enables them to learn and achieve to the maximum of their abilities. The Gifted Education Program is intended for those students who are eager to extend themselves beyond what is offered in the regular curriculum. Attendance and participation on a regular basis is important. The school year is going to be full of exciting and new material for them. I will make sure your child's educational needs are met to the best of my ability. I look forward to working with all of you and especially your children! Thank you in advance for all your support and help.
It is important for my students to take ownership within the classroom. Before students can take ownership, they must view the classroom as a community of likeminded individuals working toward a common goal. Receiving an eMINTS certification taught me to engage with learners and to facilitate opportunities to create more well-rounded individuals. The journey to create such a community begins with creating "norms", which are socially acceptable group behavior procedures.
Collaborative Norms:
Respect each other.
Be proactive as a whole.
Do your own work on time.
Help your group when they have trouble.
Hold each other accountable if off task.
Students at J. Larry Newton School are expected to follow all rules and procedures outlined by the Baldwin County Board of Education, as well as the rules of J. Larry Newton School. Learning cannot take place without control and discipline, and students will not be allowed to interrupt the education of other students with their bad behaviors. Students must understand that each member of the class has a right to an education, and that disruption of class cheats everyone in the room out of precious time to learn.
If you put yourself or anyone else in harm’s way or compromise our safe environment, this will result in immediate administrator referral or removal from the classroom.
The only classroom 'rule' is to maintain respect for yourself, others, and for learning.
