We welcome proposals from practitioners from around the globe. This event will have three strands:
Day 1: Understanding today's learners
Who are the young people in our classrooms today? Their identities, experiences, expectations and ways of learning continue to evolve. In this strand, we explore what's shaping them and how we can create the conditions they need to thrive. Topics include: learner voice and agency, multilingual identities, inclusion and accessibility, wellbeing, and belonging.
Day 2: Teaching English today
How can we respond to today's learners through effective pedagogy, methodology and classroom practice? This strand focuses on the techniques, approaches and strategies that keep learners engaged and support language development. Topics include: classroom interaction and engagement, assessment, translanguaging, creativity, technology and AI, and inclusive practices.
Day 3: Preparing for tomorrow
What skills, pathways and mindsets will young people need as they move beyond our classrooms and into an uncertain future? What changes might we need to make going forward? This strand explores how we can equip learners for lifelong language learning and success. Topics include: critical thinking and global citizenship, academic pathways (ESOL and EAP), collaboration skills, lifelong language learning, and teacher development and leadership.
We welcome proposals in two formats:
Workshops and Talks (40 minutes)
Share your classroom practice, research, innovative project or thought-provoking ideas. Workshops should be interactive and include opportunities for audience participation, demonstrations or collaborative tasks. Talks should also invite questions and engagement. Please note: all interaction will take place via chat or external tools (no breakout rooms available).
Lightning Talks (10 minutes)
Fast-paced and inspiring. Share one practical activity, one classroom insight, one research finding, one teaching challenge you've overcome or one innovative idea. Perfect for first-time speakers or sharp, focused contributions. Please note that we have a limited number of slots for these sessions.
Proposals that speak to teachers working with learners aged 3 –18 across different contexts (state schools, private language schools, online teaching, etc.)
Practical, classroom-focused sessions alongside research-informed perspectives
Ideas that are accessible to a global audience and can work across different teaching contexts
Sessions that are interactive and engaging, even in an online format
Diversity of voices and perspectives — early-career teachers, experienced practitioners, teacher trainers, researchers, materials writers, all welcome!
