Another way genetics comes into play with bodybuilding is your muscle insertions. Your muscle insertions are, “the site where bone and muscles are attached and moving during contraction” (Hannah). Your insertions (image shown below provided as an example) can come into play with the effectiveness of your muscle itself for whatever you’re trying to do.
For example, a runner would optimally have a, “longer Achilles length” which Max mentioned. This would cause them to run faster—the same concept with bodybuilding. You can have more optimal insertions not only for appearance but also for effectiveness. You can have a high quad insertion and your legs look smaller. Your insertions can impact the leverage of your arm or legs and cause a movement such as squats to be easier or harder.
