What is Google Classroom?

Google Classroom will be the main hub for our virtual school year! Students will locate, complete, and turn in assignments through our Google Classroom. Each day, students will need to login to our Google Classroom before joining the Live Zoom Lesson. This will allow scholars to access all materials, links, and assignments that they will be using throughout our Live Zoom Lessons.

How do I access Google Classroom?

By this point, you have received a login card with all of your scholar's credentials for virtual learning. You will follow these steps to enter our Google Classroom:

1. Using provided credentials, login to Google. NOTE: You do NOT need to 'create an account.' Simply click 'login.'

2. Once logged in, please click on the 3 by 3 square of dots in the top right corner of your screen.

3. You will see a variety of Google services. Click 'Classroom.'

4. You will see a screen pop up that verifies your scholar's account information. Please click 'continue.'

5. You will see a screen that asks verification that you are a student. Click 'I'm a Student.'

6. Now that you are logged in, you will see all classrooms that your scholar will be using throughout the year.

7. When you have identified OUR classroom (Ms. Blount's Class) please select 'Join.'

8. Congrats! Your scholar is now part of our Google Classroom!

NOTE: Once your scholar has joined the class, I will be able to add YOU as a parent!

What is Zoom?

Zoom will be used as our virtual meeting place for live, face-to-face instruction. Your scholar will login to Zoom (according to their daily schedule) each day to interact with their teacher and classmates.

How do I access Zoom?

You will follow these steps to access our Zoom Live Lessons:

1. Download the Zoom application for your scholar's school laptop.

2. Setup a Zoom account for your scholar. NOTE: Please input THEIR name as First Name Last Name. For professional and legal reasons, do not insert the account name as YOUR name or a nickname. I need an accurate view of scholars and their names for attendance purposes.

3. Explore Zoom! We will have our Sneak-A-Peek through Zoom on Thursday, August 13th. This will be a great time to explore this app with your scholar.

4. Each day, scholars will use the same Zoom link to access our Live Lessons. This link can be found in our Google Classroom. I would suggest bookmarking the meeting link for easy access throughout the school day.

5. Scholars are expected to be logged into Zoom (with video and audio functions turned on) during all Live Lesson instructional time. The schedule for these times can be found in the 'Schedule' tab above.
