My entry into the field of education was accidental. I was in a land where I couldn't get a work permit, the only option that would allow me to justify my education and experience was to volunteer in non profit organizations. I found the first opportunity that I could get, and that ended up being a Computer Skills Instructor at a job training center. It was one of the best things that happened to me as I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the class, and was inspired by everyone of my students with their interest and will to learn!
Since then, I have been keen to understand the elements of the current teaching learning processes. The more I learned I could understand that people wanted learn, but hated the idea of education. The traditional process of learning had killed the curiosity in the learners.
IAAT shared my sentiments towards education. I knew that as a teacher I had to make learning interesting and purposeful for the learners and IAAT showed me how to do that. All my way through the course, I could realize the significance of learners and their needs put in the fore front and how everything else followed.
I could see the learners being excited to construct their knowledge of the world around them. I could see them being open and considerate to their peers' thoughts. I could see them building their knowledge upon each others' ideas. In here, I could see education being lively and purposeful!
