Series of Webinars on Nowcasting Operations and Techniques: Perspectives for South America

Why?

This series of webinars addressing the nowcasting and very-short range forecasting of local convective storms was organised as part of a broader initiative to improve operational nowcasting activities in South America. 

Who did attend the webinars?

The talks were targeted to weather forecasters and decision-makers who utilize weather and climate information, as well as researchers and students in the atmospheric sciences field. 

Who were the speakers?

The seminars were given by professionals with long experience in topics such as research to operations process, operational application of products from modern remote sensing observing systems and numerical models, general coordination of weather services, communication of severe weather warnings, data collection procedures for forecast verification, and artificial intelligence algorithms, all of them as related to nowcasting of convective storms.
