During the 75th IAESTE Annual Conference, IAESTE members organized workshops for participants and volunteers, focusing on relevant topics.
The first workshop was titled 'How to manage IAESTE in ‘post-COVID-19’ times?' was led by Kevin Meister from Germany and David Engen from Norway. We asked: "What are the 3 main take-aways/reflections from your workshop?"
Being more flexible when planning and allowing for new ideas to grow organically. It is possible to start or complete the IAESTE internships remotely.
Appreciate more the on-site events after the pandemic, however, hybrid events may be more convenient in certain occasions.
Be honest and communicate openly to develop trust among students and stakeholders.
The next workshop focusing on self-improvement was delivered by Lisa Öller from Austria and Brittany Roberts from Canada. The session focused on Self-organization and Self-presentation, with the following key take-aways:
Listening is important! Listen to yourself and listen to others! This will help you to adapt your presentation style to get your message across clearly. If you are unclear or unmotivated, it often helps to talk to other people and to listen to their stories to get inspired.
Don’t be afraid of changing or adapting your goals! Everyone changes in the course of their life, so goals can and should be revised from time to time - they don’t have to be perfect right from the beginning.
You are part of something big and your actions and presentation skills can change the lives of other people, especially in IAESTE. This is a wonderful reason to invest time and energy into this organisation. Don’t be afraid to practice your skills by playing improv games! You could even join an improv group! Simple games like “bread and butter” are great to play with your Local Committees.
Towards the end of the Annual Conference, Zuzana Hackova from IAESTE A.s.b.l. together with Josefine Andersson from IAESTE Sweden as well as Iyimide Martins from IAESTE Nigeria prepared a Marketing and Social Media Workshop. The session focused on practical tips to align the 'look and feel' of IAESTE across the globe, and provided tips for leveraging social media platforms. Some of the key take-aways are:
Always include a call to action to your social media posts!
Unify the presence of IAESTE across social media channels by using the IAESTE Brand Manual, correct IAESTE logo, images that represent IAESTE value proposition and other communications assets developed by IAESTE A.s.b.l. Tailor the use of these assets to your local contexts.
There is plenty of information and tips directly available on the social media platforms that you can use to boost your post. Use the platforms and take tips from fellow content creators.
