School History from 1935
On April 1, 1935, Japan established the "Houli Agricultural Citizen School" with a two-year study period.
In 1943, its name was changed to "Houli Practice Agricultural School".
On November 27, 1945, it was renamed to be "Taichung County Houli Intermediate Agricultural Vocational Training School", with a two-year-period academic system.
On May 2, 1946, it was restructured into the three-year-basis "Taichung County Houli Junior Agricultural Vocational School".
On October 4, 1958, it was restructured to the five-year-basis "Taichung County Houli Vocational School".
In August of 1960, it was approved to expand with a five-year-basis Female Family Affairs Department.
In 1962, it expanded further with a three-year-basis Senior Comprehensive Agriculture Department.
In 1963, it expanded with a new Senior Horticulture Department, and in October of the same year, the Junior High School Department was approved to be established.
In 1965, the Horticulture Department and another five-year-basis Senior Horticulture Department were added.
In August 1968, in compliance with the implementation of the 9-year compulsory education, it was restructured into "Taichung County Hou-Zong Junior High School ".
In August 1970, it was approved to admit male students only.
In 1980, it was approved to establish a night school.
On November 28, 1984, the co-educational system admitting both male and female students was restored in response to the local feedback and coordination, and it was implemented in August 1985.
In 2000, it was restructured into a six-year high school, and renamed Taichung County Hou-Zong High School.
On December 23, 2000, it was renamed Taichung County Hou-Zong Senior High School.
The central lunch kitchen was completed on May 14, 2002, and it started its operation on September 1, 2004.
On May 12, 2004, the construction of the Administrative Building was completed, and it started its operation on July 1, 2004.
The High School Teaching Building was completed on September 15, 2004, and it was opened for use on November 1, 2004.
On August 1, 2005, it was approved to establish a Junior High School Gifted and Talented Class.
On August 1, 2007, it was ranked as a First-rate High School by the Ministry of Education.
In August 2007, the construction of the gymnasium began.
Principal Wang Jianbin retired on January 31, 2008, and was succeeded by Principal Lin Benchuan on February 1.
On February 1, 2008, it was awarded as an Outstanding School in the school curriculum plan.
On August 1, 2008, it was once again ranked as a High-Quality High School by the Ministry of Education
On July 31, 2009, Principal Lin Benchuan retired.
President Guo Hongyao succeeded to be the new principal on August 1, 2009.
On August 1, 2009, was ranked as a High-Quality High School by the Ministry of Education for a third time.
On August 1, 2010, it was ranked as a High-Quality High School by the Ministry of Education for a fourth time.
On August 1, 2010, it was selected as a pilot school with honor for the Homogenization Project by the Ministry of Education.
On September 29, 2010, the Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony of the gymnasium took place.
On August 1st, 2010, it was approved to establish a High-School Continuing School.
On December 25th, 2010, Taichung was restructured into a municipality directly under the central government. The official name of the school was therefore changed to Taichung Municipal Hou-Zong Senior High School, with the agency code 387049800U.
On August 1, 2011, was ranked as the Second-Phase High-Quality High School by the Ministry of Education.
On July 12, 2012, it was ranked“1st-Class High-Quality High School” with great honor, which was the top grade in the 101st academic year evaluation by the Ministry of Education.
On December 4, 2013, the Taichung City Government approved the subsidy for the school's construction of the Library Building.
On December 29, 2014, Hou-Zong Senior High School celebrated its 80th anniversary.
On June 22, 2015, the construction of the library building officially started.
On June 15, 2016, the earthquake-resistant reinforcement project for the east building of Huai Nong Hall began.
On July 31, 2016, Principal Guo Hongyao was transferred to Dongshan Senior High School.
On August 1, 2016, Mr. Zeng Luxi succeeded as the principal of the school.
on August 1, 2016, the school's address was adjusted to "No. 968, Section 3, Sanfeng Road, Houli District, Taichung City". (formerly No. 80, Sanfeng Road, Guangfu Village, Houli District, Taichung City)
In April 2017, the Library Building and Indoor Basketball Court were both completed.
On July 21, 2017, the school's Plant Greenhouse and Biological Laboratory projects were both completed.
On January 5, 2018, the earthquake-resistant reinforcement of the Ming De Building was completed.
On February 1, 2018, the earthquake-resistant reinforcement on the Comprehensive Building was completed.
In March 2018, it was ranked Grade-A Quality High School with great honor in the Ministry of Education's 107th Academic Year High School Evaluation.
On September 6, 2019, the earthquake-resistant reinforcement project of the Le Qun Building and the Cooperation Building was completed.
On July 31, 2020, Principal Zeng Luxi retired.
On August 1, 2020, Mr. Wang Yude succeeded to be the principal of the school.
The Former Principals
Mr. Chen Shengwang was the first principal after the recovery of Taiwan (from May 1946 to March 1949).
The second principal was Mr. Wu Shaozong (from August 1949 to August 1976).
The third principal was Mr. Li Maosen (from August 1976 to July 1985).
The fourth principal was Mr. Chen Yaojie (from September 1985 to August 1990).
The fifth principal was Mr. Huang Jinrui (from September 1990 to August 1994).
The sixth principal was Mr. Zhan Dehong (from August 1994 to August 1998).
The seventh principal was Mr. Wang Jianbin (from August 1998 to January 2008).
The eighth principal was Mr. Lin Benchuan (from February 2008 to July 31, 2009).
The ninth principal was Mr. Guo Hongyao (from August 1, 2009, to July 31, 2016).
The tenth principal was Mr. Zeng Luxi (from August 1, 2016 to July 31, 2020).
The eleventh principal was Mr. Wang Yude (still in office since he took over on August 1, 2020).
