Here you can find the members of 2019/2020 Student Council and in their own words a little bit about themselves.
Hi I’m Regan this is my fourth year in Student Council and first as President. As a grade 12 I have to say goodbye to DVSS soon. Since I’ll be leaving at the end of June I’m hoping to make this school year a great one.
I would love to get to know the students who this whole Council is about! So feel free to talk to me if you see me around.
Next year I plan on attending University. Although I haven’t solidified my plans I’m heading in the direction of History, Archeology or Law/Politics. If you need any (not too complicated) history homework help or want to talk about the show Bones please find me right away...seriously. Aside from that I’m a dancer and a British Comedian Game Shows enthusiast. Around this school I've been a senior leader at leadership camp, participated in numerous sports teams, sat on Human Rights Council, did DECA back in grade 9, and was apart of the Law team were I got to pretend to be a doctor and a defendant with a bunch of older students who were amazingly talent as well as kind.
My focus is on students. I want our events to serve the purpose of taking stress off of you. My ultimate goal is for you to be able to leave this school when you graduate proudly able to say you were a gryphon.
Hey! I’m Ella Cockburn and this is my third year at Dundas Valley Secondary School as well as being on student council. I’m originally from Sir William Osler. I keep myself busy with volunteering in the community and often with people who have intellectual disabilities. I also work. A lot.
Within the school I’m a part of the business shsm, best buddies, student council, deca, and waterpolo.
My hobbies include music, guitar, hiking, and travelling. My dad is a pilot so our family travels as much as we can.
I really enjoy being a leader and learning new things. I’ve been to multiple camps for leadership including OELC, BLOOM, and YLDC. I 100% believe in everyone having a voice and having their ideas heard. If you ever have anything you would like to talk or ask about, find me in the halls!
Hi, I’m Jace, and I am a grade 12 Representative and Financial Advisor on Student Council this year. If you like food, let me cook you a pasta.
Outside of school, I play the Alto Saxophone in the Hamilton All Star Jazz Band and cook at the 4th Course Bistro at Copetown Woods Golf Course. After high school I would like to pursue Condensed Matter Physics and Quantum Mechanics at the University of Toronto. Maybe one day I will decide to do something interesting with myself. For the past 5 years I have been producing and recording my own music, being signed by a German Record label for a year and having my songs on Spotify, Apple Music, etc. I am on student council because I would like to make DVSS a more friendly, happy, and accepting environment.
Hi everyone! My name is Ashleigh Dunkley and I am a grade 12 representative this year on student council. I am the Public Relations executive and have been apart of student council at DVSS since grade 9. Before high school, I went to Dundas Central and was on their student council through grade 5 to 8. Having the experience of being on council in middle school made me want to join in high school. At DVSS I have also been apart of leadership camp in grade 10, global connect (C.H.A.N.G.E. The Way conference), and grad council. Outside of school, I love to spend time with my family and friends. I’m a dancer and assist in teaching hip hop and jazz classes at my dance studio. I am also obsessed with Disney and go to Disney World with my family often, it is my happy place! I think that this year is going to be incredible and I am looking forward to working on student council!
Hi, My name is Alberta (not the province). I am a grade 11 at DVSS this year. I graduated from Dr John Seaton in 2017. On student council I am one of the two grade 11 representatives, as well as the councils secretary. So far I have been involved in the following extracurriculars here at DVSS: DECA, Cross country, Pickleball, Badminton, Track and Field, Band, Camp ELEVATE and this semester student council! My passions are: dancing, singing, fitness and community involvement. I am very enthusiastic about student council and representing the voice of my grade 11 peers. I would love to hear any ideas you have to make our already awesome school a better, more enjoyable place for us students.
Hi I’m Matty Kott and I am a grade 11 representative and this is my third year on student council and here is my little bio… One of my favourite things I’m apart of at this school is stick crew for football, I also love Best Buddies, DECA, and of course Student Council. My whole life I have done gymnastics, I have two dogs and a cat, and my favourite class right now is probably law and I really like biology. I like going on hikes throughout the trails by my house, my favourite food is chicken and waffles and I like to attempt to surf. That is me in a nutshell.

Hi I’m Julia Zacharia. I’m in grade 10 and I came from Sir William Osler Elementary school. I was always interested in taking a leadership role at SWO, and continued to want to stay involved here at DVSS. That’s why I wanted to join student council! It is a great way to apply the skills I’ve learned over the years, to help make Dundas Valley a better place! I enjoy playing basketball and soccer as well as playing guitar. I look forward to the rest of the school year, and the amazing things student council has planned!
Hello! I'm Andrew. I am a grade 9 student here at Dundas Valley Secondary School having recently graduated from Sir William Osler Elementary School.
I decided to join the Student Council here at DVSS because of the amazing opportunities that you get to pursue. Members of the Student Council plan lots of school events, fundraisers, and are focused on the well being of the students. Plus, you get to meet new people and being one of the grade 9 representatives is a privilege.
My interests include playing tennis and this year, I participated on the DVSS junior tennis team. During the summer, I volunteer at my tennis club for volunteer hours but most importantly just to help out. I also enjoy music and am playing the trumpet in some of the bands at DVSS.
In summary, I'm looking forward to getting involved around the school and will always approach challenges with a positive attitude.
Hi I’m Elaina Zacharia, and I’m thrilled to say that I’m apart of the 2019-2020 Dvss Student Council! I wanted to join Student Council because I know that it’s an amazing leadership opportunity, and that being said, I really wanted to get involved in our schools ambitions, and to pitch in my thoughts and ideas. I came from Sir William Osler Elementary school and some of my favourite things to do are, musical theatre, soccer, and playing piano.
Hi, my name is Zahava Dworkin and I am a grade 9 representative on the student council. Outside of school, I participate in a rock climbing team and play piano. In school I enjoy being a part of the basketball team, and DECA. I joined student council to be involved with school events and help out where I can. I’m exited to learn new skills and meet new people. I came from Sir William Osler Elementary School, but I’m thrilled to be apart of DVSS and student council!!!
Hey, I’m Ruby and I am one of your school senators. My job is to be your voice at board meetings. I am in grade 11 and am very involved in the school. I help run Best Buddies and Mental Health Action Team and I’m on Student Council, Athletic Council and DECA. I love to watch basketball (I can’t play anymore due to an injury), mostly the Raptors but I’ll watch the Sixers too. After highschool I want to go into experimental psychology, I’m undecided on where to go for university though. Come to me or Kayla if you have any wants or needs for the school that we should bring up to the board. Have a good school year!
I am currently one of this years student senates. I am in council because it is a way that I can communicate with the students and gather their opinions to take to the senate meetings. I’ve always wanted to be in council but never really pushed to get into it and now I am so very excited to be a part of this amazing club! I went to Sir William Osler elementary school from grade 6 to grade 8. My interests range from so many different things. I love the environment and am very big on helping save our ecosystems. I also love playing sports and being active. My favorite sport would have to be soccer and I play in an indoor league at soccer world. I am currently in a club called Civitan and it’s one of my favourite things ever. We volunteer in our community and help others in anyway we can. I absolutely love it because it helps me get involved with my community and help the people around where I live. I can’t wait to be a part of something so great and I also can’t wait to see what the future holds for me and this amazing council!
