RCT Catering Services provides all primary schools within Rhondda Cynon Taf with a range of tasty and nutritious meals.

Our menu operates on a two-week cycle and includes a variety of freshly prepared hot dishes each day. Pupils can also choose from a daily salad option or a jacket potato with a selection of fillings, served alongside 50/50 bread.

Each meal includes a dessert and a drink. As well as the fruit-based dessert of the day, pupils may also choose fresh yoghurt or a piece of fresh fruit.

If your child has a food allergy, intolerance, or medical condition that requires a special diet, RCT Catering Services are able to provide support through a medically prescribed diet.

There is an online application system where parents and carers can submit a request to ensure your child’s dietary needs are safely met.

In September 2022, the Welsh Government and Plaid Cymru agreed to introduce Universal Primary Free School Meals (UPFSM) for all primary school pupils.

This initiative was successfully rolled out in Rhondda Cynon Taf by April 2024, ahead of the national deadline. As a result, all pupils in full-time primary education, including full-time Nursery pupils, are now entitled to receive a free, nutritious meal on every day they attend school.

Please note that part-time Nursery pupils are not eligible for Universal Primary Free School Meals. However, some settings may offer a lunch provision, which can be purchased by parents or carers through the online payment system.
