Students take part in a graffiti project where they engage with the wider community. Students learn about regulation around graffiti & look into the deeper meaning of individual artwork. Students have engaged with workshop leaders through the Arts Council Wales project Cynefin and this year there will be a trip to Bristol to see the graffiti & mural art around the city as well as the opportunity to partake in a graffiti workshop.
KS3 students investigate the work of Van Gogh. They paint one portion of Van Gogh's 'Starry night' and bring it together to make a collaborative art work. The students also had the opportunity to visit the interactive Van Gogh exhibition in Bristol.
KS3 students were inspired by the work of Pharrell Williams to create a tie-dye football shirt. The students have also been discussing and investigating important topics in football around racism & role models.
Year 8 & 9 students create a stop motion animation that tells the story of Welsh coal. Pupils investigate the work of Kyffin Williams and create landscape paintings inspired by Williams for the background of their animation. Students have the opportunity to visit Big Pit, interact with ex-miners and collect research in a practical and interactive way. Pupils then storyboard, create characters and use 'stop motion studio' to bring their animation to life.Â
