Welcome to St Mary’s Church in Wales Primary School. We are proud to be on our UNICEF Rights Respecting School journey. Having already attained the RRS Bronze Award in 2019, we are now working towards achieving the RRS Silver Award.
As a Rights Respecting School, we prioritise our pupil’s rights by integrating them into our daily practices. It’s not just about what children do; it’s also about what adults do. Together, we promote and realise children’s rights, putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) at the core of our planning, policies, and ethos, alongside our Christian Faith. Our commitment to pupil’s safety, well-being, and participation is paramount.
At St Mary’s Church in Wales Primary School, we believe in empowering our students with knowledge about their rights. We achieve this through our engaging curriculum themes:
· Cynefin & Community: Through this theme, we explore the importance of community, cooperation, and mutual respect. Students learn about their rights as individuals within a larger social context.
· Equality & Diversity: In this theme, we celebrate diversity and promote inclusive. We teach students about equal rights, regardless of their background, ethnicity, or abilities.
· Recycling & Sustainability: Our commitment to sustainability aligns with the sustainability Global Goals. By learning about recycling, conservation, and environmental citizenship, our students become informed global citizens.
Keep updated by following our RRS journey on ‘X’ as we nurture young minds and foster a culture of respect, understanding, and advocacy for all children’s rights.
