Dear Parents,  

 I am delighted to be able to welcome you to our school. It is a wonderful school which I am very proud to lead; all staff here believe every child should have the opportunity to be the best they can be in a safe and welcoming environment and this can only take place when the school and families work well together!

As a Voluntary Aided Church School, we have close links with St Mary the Virgin Church in the Diocese of Swansea & Brecon. The Christian faith underpins all that we do as a school, ‘I have come that they may have life and have it to the full,’ John 10:10. As a result the pupils here are happy and confident always demonstrating our school’s core Christian values.

We are a school of sanctuary, the first in Blaenau Gwent, a silver rights respecting school, a second renewal ECO platinum school and a Bronze Siarter Iaith School.

We have high expectations of ourselves and those around us. Throughout your child’s education with us they will have experiences, opportunities, knowledge and academic skills to inspire them to become successful life-long learners. We want our children to be the best and this is underpinned by a favourite biblical scripture of ours: ‘Whatever you do, work at it with all of your heart’ (Colossians 3:23).

We actively encourage our parents and carers to become involved in their children’s education and would love to see you in school. Working together as a school family, we can ensure that children are both happy and successful at school.
