We have been learning about the history of the Mid Rhondda so our teachers decided it would be a great idea to visit a local mine. At Rhondda Heritage Park we had a workshop about the life of a Victorian child and we also went on the Black Gold mine tour! We loved it! It was a little bit scary at times but we were very brave.
We learnt that children would have jobs like chimney sweeps. In school, teacher were very very strict! They had so many rules to follow. We even had a chance to play with Victorian toys which were made of wood.
We worked in pairs.
We researched facts about the disasters that happened in Clydach Vale.
We typed our facts to create an interactive map with the other children taking part in the project.
These are the pages we created collaboratively. We added shapes to the map and created links so that when somebody clicks on the symbol they are taken to information about what happened in that area.
