Pupils will study the following core subjects over year 10 & 11:
Welsh (Language)
Welsh (Literature)
English (Language)
English (Literature)
Mathematics
Mathematics (Numeracy)
Science (Double Award)
Welsh Baccalaureate
In addition to the core subjects pupils in year 10 pupils will follow on level 1/2 course (from column A) which will be completed in a year. Pupils will spend 10 hours a fortnight studying this subject and at the end of the year will gain a qualification in the subject.
In addition, pupils will also study two other optional courses over two year. Pupils will spend 5 hours a fortnight studying them and at the end of year 11 they will gain qualifications in these subjects.
There are a number of different courses available, some of which are traditional GCSEs and some are L1/2 vocational courses (equivalent to GCSEs). Below is a link to the information booklet which gives you more information about the process and subjects. There are also information videos for each subject.
Your child has already provided us with an idea of the subjects they would like to study from September, however a final decision must now be made about what subjects they would like to take in each of the option columns.
