Theatre Eisteddfod and the County Eisteddfod

The Theatre Eisteddfod was held on Tuesday evening, March 17 at Ysgol Syr Thomas Jones, Amlwch. Warm congratulations to the group who took part in the Theatrical Presentation. They received exceptionally praiseworthy adjudication.

On Saturday, March 21, again at Ysgol Syr Thomas Jones, Amlwch, the Urdd County Eisteddfod was held.

Congratulations to the Choir, to Gruffudd who competed and received second prize in the Folk Song Solo competition, and to Llywarch who received third prize in the Year 3 and 4 Recitation competition.

The Theatrical Presentation group, the Choir, and Gruffudd—competing in the Folk Song Solo and the Piano Solo—will compete in the Urdd National Eisteddfod in Mona in May, representing Ysgol y Graig.

Best wishes to everyone, and thank you to the individuals who have worked hard training and supporting the pupils.

Heartfelt thanks to you, the parents, for your continuous support – your encouragement means so much to us.

And a special thank you to all the children of Y Graig for being so wonderful; you are a credit to the school.

Llangefni Library

Year 2 had a wonderful visit to the Library on the 3rd of March. They spent a lovely time listening to stories, singing, and learning about how the Library works. The children had great fun and took part in an exciting treasure hunt. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves!

The Graig wild garden

Miss Nicola Jones and Mr Jonathan Jones, together with the school’s Eco Committee, have been extremely busy helping to plan and develop the garden. A pond has now been created for creatures to live in. A new shed has been built, and trees and plants have been planted.

SBARDUNO

Eilian’s class received a Science workshop from the company ‘Sbarduno’.

The pupils each created their own Lava Lamp!

Then, they learned a song with Rich from Menter Môn about the colours of the rainbow.

Open the Book

It was lovely to welcome our friends from Open the Book who came to lead a service with both units: Graig Fach and Graig Fawr. As we stand on the threshold of Easter, it was a perfect time for us to hear the story, with pupils from Eilian and Pedr’s classes reading and acting.

Football

The Year 4 boys’ team played a friendly football match against the Year 4 team from Ysgol Gymraeg Morswyn. Thank you to Mr Gwilym and Mr Jones for supporting the team.

A team of boys and girls competed in the Primary 5’s competition at Plas Arthur on Wednesday, March 25. Thank you to Mr Gwilym and Mrs McGilvary for supporting the teams.

Ogi, Ogi, Ogi - Rugby

A group of Year 5 and 6 girls competed in the Urdd Tag Rugby competition. Congratulations to the team for coming second in a special competition. Thank you to Mr Jones for coaching them and to Mrs McGilvary for driving the mini bus.

Cricket

Year 5 and 6 classes are currently receiving Cricket lessons and are enjoying learning how to play the game.

Thank you to Mr Dyfrig Jones, Cricket Participation Officer, Cricket Wales, for coaching the pupils.

At the end of the training, the pupils will have a game of cricket.

WEDDING BELLS AT THE GRAIG

As a finale to the theme ‘Celebrations’, the Year 2 classes (Pedr and Cwyfan) were busy preparing for the mock wedding of Meredydd and Erin. Everyone made quite the effort and had been looking forward eagerly to the big day!

The wedding was held at St Cyngar’s Church, and the wedding breakfast took place in the Graig Fach hall. Thank you to the children for helping to prepare the feast.

Heartfelt thanks to the Reverend Selwyn Griffith for his time, and to DJ Endaf from Canolfan Addysg y Bont for coming as DJ so everyone could enjoy a celebratory disco.
