The pupils’ awareness of safety when using the internet was raised through a variety of class discussions and activities on February 10.
Each class took part in purposeful tasks and conversations to remind them of the importance of being careful and alert when interacting online. The activities helped the children to recognise potential dangerous situations and to understand how to keep themselves safe.
We would like to give a special thank you to PC Jasmin for visiting the school and for contributing so valuably to the activities. She provided clear and appropriate advice to the pupils, reinforcing the safety messages in a way that was easy for them to understand.
Welsh Music Day
We celebrated Welsh Music Day by listening to a variety of musical artists from Wales performing their songs. The classes took part in different activities before enjoying a disco at the end of the day.
Open the Book.
It was lovely to welcome our friends from ‘Open the Book’ to lead a service with both units; Graig Fach and Graig Fawr.
The story this month was Jesus and his friends with pupils from classes Pedr and Ffinan reading and acting.
As a school, we are very grateful to them for visiting monthly, and everyone – pupils and staff alike – really enjoy the services.
Year 2 Veterinarians
Year 2 had a special visit from Mirain and Kate from the veterinary surgery as part of their learning about the farm. We had the chance to listen to Twm the dog’s heartbeat and, even more exciting, to give him some “surgery”!
The children learned a great deal about farm animals and the important work vets do in caring for them.
A big thank you to Mirain and Kate for making the session so interesting.
Anglesey Urdd Instrumental Eisteddfod
The Urdd Anglesey Instrumental Eisteddfod was held at Ysgol y Graig, with a large number of our pupils taking part in individual competitions, either on the piano or on brass instruments.
Huge congratulations to Y Graig Band, who achieved third place in an extremely competitive contest – an excellent result that reflects their dedication and hard work.
Heartfelt thanks to Mr Ioan Hughes for his tireless work in training the brass players and the band. Thanks also to all parents for their support.
Urdd Netball Competition
A group from the school took part in the Urdd Netball Competition at Brailsford Centre in Bangor. The team played very well. Thank you to Mr Jonathan Jones for coaching the team, and to Mrs McGilvary for driving the minibus.
Bike Lessons
The Year 5 and 6 classes are receiving bike lessons with Ceri Williams. It’s an opportunity for the pupils to refresh their knowledge of cycling rules and skills, and to stay safe when riding on the main road.
Môn Actif Football Competition
Two teams recently took part in the Môn Actif football competition. The pupils really enjoyed the tournament. Thank you to Mr Gwilym for coaching the pupils.
St David’s Day Parade
The Year 5 and 6 pupils marched with the other schools in the catchment area to celebrate our Patron Saint. Following the parade, everyone went on to enjoy a jamboree in the ysgol Gyfun.
