It was lovely to see the children (and the staff) making such a special effort as we celebrated World Book Day once again this year.
Thank you very much as parents for your support in providing such wonderful costumes.
Open the Book.
It was lovely to welcome our friends from ‘Open the Book’ to lead a service with both units; Graig Fach and Graig Fawr.
The story this month was 'The sad Centurion' with pupils from classes Pedr and Maethlu reading and acting.
As a school, we are very grateful to them for visiting monthly, and everyone – pupils and staff alike – really enjoy the services.
Eisteddfod Cylch Cefni
The Cefni District Eisteddfod was held on Saturday, February 28 at Ysgol Gyfun Llangefni, with enthusiastic competition from the school. From singing to recitation, from dancing to acting, it was so lovely to see the Graig blue uniform on the stage.
Congratulations and best wishes to the following who will be competing in the Urdd County Eisteddfod at Ysgol Syr Thomas Jones, Amlwch, on March 21: Gwenno and Ani – individual dance; Llywarch – Year 3 and 4 recitation; Gruffudd – Folk Song and Piano Solo;
and the Choir.
A heartfelt thank you to you as parents for your continued support throughout the day – your encouragement means so much to us.
And a special thank you to all the children of Y Graig for being so wonderful throughout the day; you were a credit to the school. 👏
Bike lessons
Year 5 and 6 classes continue to receive bike lessons with Ceri Williams. It’s an opportunity for the pupils to remind themselves of the rules and skills of cycling and to stay safe on the main road.
St David’s Day Lunch
Many thanks to the kitchen staff for preparing a wonderful lunch for the children during our ‘Cool Cymru’ week. Everyone really enjoyed it.
Football Competitions
Year 5 and 6 boys and girls have been busy competing in various football competitions. Thanks to Mr Gwilym for coaching and to Mrs McGilvary for driving the minibus and supporting the teams
Eco Council
The Eco Council have been busy volunteering by picking up litter in the town. It’s lovely to see our young people thinking about the problem of litter pollution. Thanks to Mrs Redvers Jones and Mr Williams for supporting the group.
Llangefni Catchment School Council
Following a parade through the town and an opportunity to celebrate our Patron Saint David's day, members of the Llangefni Catchment School Council, together with Mr Pritchard and Mrs Land from Ysgol Corn Hir, went to judge the businesses’ special efforts in decorating their windows.
A certificate of thanks was presented to every business. Unanimously, the pupils felt that Cain’s shop window deserved first prize for its decorations.
Thank you to Josh and Isla for representing Y Graig.
