Best wishes to the pupils competing in the Theatrical Presentation and the Choir.              

Many thanks to Mrs Catrin Jones Hughes for preparing towards the presentation and to Mrs Grês Pritchard for preparing the choir. Best wishes to Gruffudd Siôn, who is competing in the Folk Song and the Piano Solo.

Thank you to Mr Pritchard for his support, and to the parents for their continued support throughout the eisteddfod journey. These have been very special experiences for the children.

Both competitions will be held in the Green Pavilion on Thursday, May 28.

Year 3 and 4 pupils had a very memorable two-day visit to Moelfre as part of their Sea theme. The trip began with a walk along part of the coastal path, where they enjoyed the stunning views and natural surroundings.

There was a stop at Porth Helaeth, where the children took part in a fun challenge to build towers using beach stones. This activity encouraged teamwork and creative thinking.

They then continued on to the Moelfre Seaview centre, where pupils had the opportunity to learn about beach and sea safety. Visiting the Moelfre Lifeboat Station and seeing the lifeboat itself was a highlight. To complete the visit, the children took part in an exciting treasure hunt.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Anti Val at Carmel Chapel for her warm welcome and for allowing us to use the chapel schoolroom to eat our lunch. Thanks also to Mrs McGilvary, Mrs Taylor, Mrs Redvers Jones and Mrs Moore for their help in transporting the pupils safely by minibus.

Without a doubt, this was a fantastic start to the theme, providing valuable and enriching experiences for the children.

As part of their theme on the natural world, Reception and Year 1 pupils explored signs of nature along the ‘Traed Bach’ pathway that surrounds the Graig Fawr Unit.

The children used their senses to observe the world around them—listening, smelling, looking and touching different features of the natural environment. It was a very worthwhile experience that helped to develop their awareness and appreciation of the natural world.

Mr Huw Tegid Roberts was welcomed to Graig Fawr to address the children with a very inspiring story. He introduced a special bracelet with each part being different, leading to a discussion about diversity and identity. He went on to show pictures of different flowers and animals to reinforce the message. His main message was to remind us that everyone is different, and that this is perfectly fine—in fact, it is our differences that make us special.

It was also lovely to welcome Year 2 pupils to the service, beginning the transition process from Graig Fach to Graig Fawr in a warm and welcoming way.

Year 3 and 4 pupils recently enjoyed a very interesting visit from Dŵr Cymru. The session provided a valuable opportunity to learn more about the importance of water, how it is treated, and our responsibility to use it carefully.

Through interactive activities and engaging discussions, the children developed a better understanding of how water travels from its source to our homes, as well as the impact on the environment if we do not look after this vital resource.

The session was both educational and inspiring, supporting their learning within the theme and encouraging a responsible attitude towards water use in the future.

Pupils at Graig Fach had a very special time celebrating their talents and their Welsh identity during this year’s Graig Fach Eisteddfod. There was great enthusiasm as everyone played their part and enjoyed the experience.

The pupils were given the opportunity to compete in a wide variety of competitions, ensuring that every child had the chance to take part and shine in their own way.

Heartfelt thanks go to the staff for their hard work in coaching, preparing and encouraging the pupils, and to the parents for their continued support in encouraging the children to complete tasks at home. Without this teamwork, the Eisteddfod would not have been such a success.

It was truly a wonderful celebration of our language, our culture and the talents of our pupils.
