On behalf of all current and former members of staff and pupils of Ysgol y Graig who have worked under the leadership of Mrs Meinir Roberts, we would like to express our sincere thanks for her dedication, vision and support over the past ten years.
We wish her a long, healthy and very happy retirement, filled with opportunities to relax and enjoy time with her family and friends.
Thank you for everything, and our very best wishes for the future.
Graig Fawr Eisteddfod was held on 10 July, with everyone competing enthusiastically throughout the day. Many thanks to Linda’r Hafod for adjudicating the stage competitions and to Elin Mai Jones from Ysgol Gyfun Llangefni for judging the literary work.
Warm congratulations to Gwenno, who came first and won a miniature chair to keep forever. This is a particularly remarkable achievement, as she has won the literary section for the fourth consecutive year.
Mia Lynne came second and Josh came third.
Well done to everyone for their efforts and achievements.
The official opening of Graig Fach Unit was celebrated by Anna Brychan MS, Welsh Government Cabinet Secretary for Education and the Welsh Language. She received a warm welcome from the Year 2 children, who performed a special song before being formally welcomed by Mrs Roberts, the Headteacher.
She was then given a tour of the building by Erin Beca and Gwion, who were excellent ambassadors for the school.
It was a proud and memorable occasion for the whole school.
The children of Graig Fach Unit had a wonderful time enjoying the Summer Jamboree with Ben Dant and Catrin Angharad. The children sang familiar summer songs, danced, took part in fun games, and had the opportunity to play musical instruments and learn some Makaton signing.
The atmosphere was full of fun and excitement, and the children thoroughly enjoyed singing along to live accompaniment and musical backing tracks. It was a lively and engaging experience, and everyone had a fantastic time.
A special farewell ceremony was held to wish the Year 2 children all the very best as they prepare to leave Graig Fach Unit and move on to Graig Fawr Unit in September. It was an opportunity to celebrate their achievements and their journey over the past few years.
We know that the staff of Graig Fach Unit will miss the children greatly, but we look forward to seeing them continue to thrive in the next stage of their school life. A huge thank you to Miss Pari and Miss Williams for their hard work in preparing the ceremony and ensuring that it was a special and memorable occasion for everyone.
Good luck to you all in Graig Fawr Unit!
A special ceremony was held to wish our Year 6 pupils well as they reached the end of their journey here with us at Ysgol y Graig. It was an opportunity to reflect on their time at the school and celebrate the many achievements and experiences they have enjoyed over the years.
We are extremely proud of each and every one of them and of the progress they have made during their time in primary education. A huge thank you to the Year 5 and 6 Department staff for preparing the ceremony and ensuring a memorable occasion for the pupils and their families.
We wish the pupils every success and happiness as they begin a new chapter at secondary school.
Good luck to you all!
Our Summer Instrumental Concert was held, providing an opportunity for all pupils receiving instrumental lessons to perform in front of their parents, who thoroughly enjoyed the performances. It was wonderful to see the progress and development the children have made throughout the year.
A huge thank you to Mr Ioan Hughes and Mrs Marie Smith for their dedication and hard work in supporting the pupils throughout the year and for helping to make the concert such a great success.
We are incredibly proud of the success of our recycling project in partnership with Penhesgyn Recycling Centre. So far, we have rescued and reused 620kg of items that would otherwise have ended up in landfill. From scooters and bikes to books, gardening equipment and LEGO, these items have been given a second life and are now being enjoyed by our pupils.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all the staff at Penhesgyn Recycling Centre for being so supportive throughout the project. Special thanks go to Lee Jones and Bob Parry for their hard work, enthusiasm and commitment, which have made such a valuable contribution to the success of the project. We truly appreciate everything they have done to help make this project such a success.
The Eco Council received the Eco Schools Platinum award this week. Thanks to all the Eco Council members and the wider school community for supporting the school in achieving this success. Thanks also to Esyllt for coming over to judge the work and for this special accreditation.
Thank you to Mr Jonathan Jones and Miss Nicola Jones for their preparations towards the award.
At the end of another school year, we as a school would like to sincerely thank you, as parents, for your support throughout the academic year.
Wishing everyone a happy and enjoyable summer holiday from all the staff at Ysgol y Graig.
