Parking Responsibly
We kindly ask for your support in helping us maintain a safe and respectful environment for our school and local community during drop-off and pick-up times.
Recently, we have received several complaints and concerns from local residents regarding cars being parked on grass verges and across driveways. This not only damages the grass and the appearance of our surroundings but also creates frustration within the community.
We understand that parking can be challenging at busy times, and we truly appreciate the effort you make to get your children to school safely. However, we ask that everyone avoids parking on grass verges and instead uses appropriate parking areas or considers alternative options such as walking short distances where possible.
By working together, we can ensure our school remains a positive part of the community and that our shared spaces are cared for.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Let’s make this festive season unforgettable! Thank you again for your incredible support, we can’t wait to see you there, cheering on our talented pupils!
We are incredibly proud of our school council representatives who visited Bassaleg High School this Thursday to join fellow councils from across the cluster. Together, pupils collaborated on meaningful discussions about how we can support one another, share ideas to improve our schools, and strengthen our communities.
A key focus of the day was exploring the issue of poverty and how, by working collectively, we can take positive steps to prevent it and ensure that every pupil feels supported. This was a fantastic opportunity for our young leaders to show their commitment, compassion, and determination to make a real difference.
Snow Ball Disco
A isco to Remember!
Our pupils had an absolutely fantastic time at the Snowball Disco! The excitement was evident as they danced their socks off, enjoyed sweet treats and refreshments, and lit up the room with glow sticks. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces and hear the laughter echoing throughout the event.
A huge thank you to our amazing PTA for organising such a magical evening. Your hard work and creativity truly made this event sparkle!
Our Fabulous Flautists Shine!
A huge congratulations to our talented flautists for their delightful performance of “Merrily We Roll Along.” Your hard work and enthusiasm truly shone through!
We’d also like to give a special thank you to Mrs Hornsby, whose passion and creativity make learning a woodwind instrument such an enjoyable experience for everyone.
We can’t wait to hear the amazing progress you’ll make in the coming weeks. Remember to keep practising, every note brings you closer to mastery!

Breakfast Club
To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all pupils, we kindly remind parents and guardians that Breakfast Club admission runs strictly between 8:20 and 8:30am. For safeguarding reasons, children arriving after 8:30am will not be admitted. It is essential that pupils don't access the school site until 8.15am as nobody is available to supervise children on the yard at this time.
It is essential that every child is personally handed over to a member of the Breakfast Club team at the main doors. Please do not leave the premises until this handover has been completed. These procedures are in place to protect all children. If you miss the deadline for entry you will need to wait with your child and ensure they enter school through their allocated class entrance. Thank you for your cooperation and continued support.
Brawddegau Bendigedig Bryn Hyfryd
Next week, our theme for our Wal Graffiti will be changing to 'Nadolig' - 'Christmas'
Here's some sentence starters that the children could use:
Hoffwn i....
I would like
Dwi'n dwli ar....
I love....
Dwi'n chwarae rhan...
I'm playing the part of...
You could really help your children at home by looking up some Welsh vocabulary around the subject of Christmas - maybe characters in the Nativity, or the names of some of the toys they'd like!
Blwyddyn 6 can't wait to see all the graffiti ffantasteg on the new Wal Graffiti!
Timber Trail Installation
Safety Reminder: To keep everyone safe, we kindly ask that pupils do not use the Timber Trail before or after school. The equipment must only be used under staff supervision during the school day. Thank you for helping us keep playtime safe and fun for all!
Safeguarding - Access and Egress to Y1
To help ensure a calm and safe end to the school day, we kindly ask Year 1 parents to collect their children from the top yard using the designated pathways. Please avoid walking around the pathway directly outside the Year 1 room, as this area becomes congested and can make it difficult for pupils to spot their grown-ups.
Your support helps us create a smoother, less stressful transition for our youngest learners. Thank you for helping us keep things running safely and smoothly!
Important Reminder regarding 'No Nuts in School'
We kindly remind all parents and carers that our school is a nut-free zone. This means that nuts and nut-based products must not be brought in snacks or packed lunches. Several of our students have severe nut allergies, and even trace amounts can trigger life-threatening reactions. These allergies are not just uncomfortable, they can be extremely dangerous, requiring immediate medical attention. By keeping nuts out of school, we’re helping to create a safe and inclusive environment for every child. Thank you for your continued support and vigilance in protecting our students’ health.
School Attendance
Remember not to take holidays in term time. Poor attendance can significantly impact on the well-being and academic attainment of your child. Our attendance target is 96.% for the whole school. Please see chart which demonstrates the effects of good and poor attendance. Our current whole school attendance is 95.81%. If your child is unwell please contact the school office.
