Tesco 'Stronger Starts Project'
Thank you to the MPPS community for your support with the 'Stronger Starts Project'. The aim of the project is to raise funds for 'Outdoor Learning Provision'. We want you to help us promote discovery and independence for our pupils by purchasing tools and equipment for them to learn outdoors and connect with nature.
The project with the highest number of votes across our region will receive £1,500 , the second placed project £1,000, and the third placed project £500.

World Down Syndrome Day and Comic Relief 2025
We have had a wonderful day celebrating World Down Syndrome Day and Comic Relief. It has been lovely to see the children wearing odd socks and clothing and costumes that make them happy! A lovely way to end the week! Da iawn pawb!

Ballet Cymru Year 3

Mount Pleasant’s PTA Easter Raffle
Some amazing prizes including chocolate hampers, craft hampers and vouchers to be won!
The children will come home with a book of 5 tickets (each ticket will be £1). Please could all tickets be returned before the draw date on the 11th April 2025. Thank you!
If you wish to purchase extra tickets, spares will be available at the school office. We will also be selling tickets online; please leave your child’s name and an email address so we can allocate your tickets.

Nursery Parents Welsh Oracy Workshop
All Nursery Parents are invited to an Introduction to Welsh Oracy Workshop on Wednesday 26th March at 10.45am and 2.45pm. Come along and find out how you can support your child with Welsh Oracy. Miss Medhurst will be taking the session and she would love to share lots of ideas that will be fun and engaging for your child when learning simple Welsh phrases.
School Attendance
Remember not to take holidays in term time. Poor attendance can significantly impact on the well-being and academic attainment of your child. Our attendance target is 96% for the whole school. Please see chart which demonstrates the effects of good and poor attendance. Our current whole school attendance is 95.2% if your child is unwell please contact the school office.
The School Essentials Grant
The school essentials grant, funded by the Welsh government funds free school meals and equipment for children with families on low incomes. All primary school pupils in Newport receive free school meals through the universal free school meals.
If your child is in primary school and receiving universal free school meals and you have a low household income (click on the link to see if you are eligible https://www.newport.gov.uk/schools-and-learning/school-meals/free-school-meals ), you should still complete an application form for free school meals.
You may be entitled to further support and your school may also receive additional funding. To receive the school essentials grant support, you have to apply. Click here to access Free School Meals form 2024-25
The grant can help fund:
school uniform (including coats and shoes)
school sports kit
uniform for activities such as, scouts; guides; cadets; sports; performing arts
school equipment (school bags and stationery)
laptops or tablets
equipment for out of school trips such as outdoor learning (waterproofs)

Parking Responsibly at drop off and collection times
This is a reminder to remember to park responsibly at the start and end of the school day. We have received multiple complaints from local residents this week and as such, we have contacted Parking Enforcement, who will be monitoring the area. Please help us to resolve this issue. Thank you.
