ESTYN
Thank you all for your kind words, goodies for the staffroom (they definitely kept spirits high!) and good luck wishes as MPPS has gone through their ESTYN Inspection.
I'd like to thank the staff and governors for the hard work and commitment to providing the best possible education for our pupils. The school looks superb and our pupils have excelled at demonstrating their learning and progress to our visitors.
We are all very excited to receive the ESTYN report which will be made public on 4th August 2025. Until then the report is confidential. I can say I'm a very proud Headteacher!
Sports Day
A huge well done to the entire school community for making this year’s Sports Day such a fantastic event! We were incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, determination and excellent sportsmanship shown by all pupils throughout the day.
Thank you to all the parents and carers who came along to cheer us on, your energy and encouragement meant so much to the pupils. We are especially grateful to those families who kindly provided gazebos, offering some much-needed shade on such a sunny day.
A special thank you goes to our brilliant teachers for their careful planning and organisation, helping to create a day full of fun, teamwork and lasting memories.
Well done, everyone, what a great team effort!

Y5 trip to the Welfare Grounds
Year 5 were absolutely delighted to win the MPPS Movers Skipping Challenge! As a well-earned reward for their hard work and dedication, they enjoyed a fantastic day out at the Welfare Grounds. The class had exclusive access to the tennis courts, football fields, and gym equipment for the entire day.
The weather was perfect, adding to the fun and excitement. Everyone had a brilliant time, and the display of sporting talent was truly impressive. To top it off, the class walked to and from the venue, getting in even more exercise!
This super-fit group truly deserved their special treat — what a memorable day!
MPPS Podcast
The digital leaders have been hard at work creating their next MPPS podcast. Give it a listen and hear what is happening around school and whether you can do the challenge for the next show. Well done to our digital leaders!
Open Door Policy
If you have any concerns regarding school, please contact the school office.
In the event of a concern, or issue, please be reminded that we have an open door policy where we are more than happy to discuss these concerns and resolve any issues quickly and effectively. Please refrain from using social media to air these concerns, this is not helpful and is also extremely detrimental to the wellbeing of our staff.
Thank you to our families who always contact the school, enabling us to work in partnership. This is very much appreciated.

School Attendance
Remember not to take holidays in term time. Poor attendance can significantly impact on the well-being and academic attainment of your child. Our attendance target is 96% for the whole school. Please see chart which demonstrates the effects of good and poor attendance. Our current whole school attendance is 94.8%. If your child is unwell please contact the school office.
Sun Protection
Now the Summer Term has started, I wanted to remind you of the importance of pupils wearing sunscreen to school. The sun's rays are particularly strong over the summer period and they can damage children's skin. Your child's health and well-being are very important to us. Please apply sunscreen (at least SPF 30) and 4 or 5 stars sunscreen in the Summer months. Encourage your child to wear a wide brimmed bucket hat or legionnaire style hat. School will continue to monitor time spent learning in the outdoors and encourage use of shady areas where possible. You can find out more information about keeping safe in the sun at www.cancerresearchuk.org .
Your support is very important. You can help us by:
Talking to your child about the importance of sun protection at home.
Sending your child to school with a wide-brimmed hat.
Providing plenty of water in a clearly labelled water bottle.
Thank you!
Brawddegau Bendigedig Bryn Hyfryd
Hanner Tymor Hapus! Happy Half Term!
We're going to be introducing the following new phrase next week - have a go at home for a head start!
Beth wyt ti'n mwynhau gwneud?
What do you enjoy doing?
The word 'mwynhau' means 'enjoy'. The childen are all familiar with the word 'hoffi' (which means 'like) , but to extend their vocabulary we introduce the word 'mwynhau' in Year 2. 'Enjoy' also implies a more pronounced sense of happiness and active participation than 'like' !
To answer you would say:
Dwi'n mwynhau .....
I enjoy....
Following on from our fantastic sports day, and thinking about the upcoming extravaganza, you could extend with:
Dwi'n mwynhau rhedeg yn y mabolgampau!
I enjoy running in sports day!
Dwi'n mwynhau canu yn yr ecstrafagansa!
I enjoy singing in the extravaganza!
