Crucial Crew Visit Y6
Our Year 6 pupils recently attended the Newport Crucial Crew event, where they took part in a series of engaging PSE-linked workshops delivered face-to-face by professionals from a wide range of organisations, agencies, and charities. The sessions provided valuable life skills and safety awareness in a fun and interactive way.
We are incredibly grateful to all the organisations who gave their time to support our pupils, it was a truly worthwhile experience!
Cauliflower Cards
We’re excited to launch our Cauliflower Cards Christmas Project!
Next week, children in Nursery to Year 2 will be bringing home instructions to design their very own Christmas card. We hope this will be a fun home/school activity where you can enjoy working alongside your child to create something festive and personal. Please return any orders by Monday 3rd November.
Meanwhile, pupils in Years 3 to 6 will be designing their cards in school. These will be sent home on Thursday 23rd October, along with an order form.
If you’d like to purchase a pack of cards, gift tags or mugs featuring your child’s artwork, simply follow the instructions on the sheet.
Once you’ve placed your order online and made payment, please return your child’s artwork and form to school by Monday 3rd November. We kindly ask that artwork is kept flat to avoid creases. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to accept late orders after this date.
Not only is this a joyful way to celebrate the season, but a percentage of every order also helps raise funds for our school, so thank you for your support!
Autumn Term Parent Consultations
We’re looking forward to welcoming parents to our Autumn Term Parent Consultations on Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd October. These meetings are a valuable opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, well-being and learning so far this year.
Each appointment will last 10 minutes, and we kindly ask all parents to stick to their allocated time to help the schedule run smoothly for everyone.
A booking link was sent out on Tuesday 6th October via Teachers2Parents. Any problems with booking, please contact the school office. We look forward to seeing you!
A huge diolch yn fawr to our amazing pupils, staff, and families for taking part in Shwmae Day at Mount Pleasant! It was fantastic to see everyone embracing the Welsh language with such enthusiasm, sharing “Shw mae!” greetings and enjoying the fun activities throughout the day. Special thanks to our brilliant Criw Cymraeg for making and selling delicious Welsh Cakes to raise funds for our upcoming Welsh graffiti wall. The final amount raised was a msasive £222!!! Your support helps us celebrate our culture and language in creative and meaningful ways
Diolch yn fawr!
Breakfast Club
To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all pupils, we kindly remind parents and guardians that Breakfast Club admission runs strictly between 8:20 and 8:30am. For safeguarding reasons, children arriving after 8:30am will not be admitted. It is essential that pupils don't access the school site until 8.15am as nobody is available to supervise children on the yard at this time.
It is essential that every child is personally handed over to a member of the Breakfast Club team at the main doors. Please do not leave the premises until this handover has been completed. These procedures are in place to protect all children. If you miss the deadline for entry you will need to wait with your child and ensure they enter school through their allocated class entrance. Thank you for your cooperation and continued support.
Timber Trail Installation
Safety Reminder: To keep everyone safe, we kindly ask that pupils do not use the Timber Trail before or after school. The equipment must only be used under staff supervision during the school day. Thank you for helping us keep playtime safe and fun for all!
Safeguarding - Access and Egress to Y1
To help ensure a calm and safe end to the school day, we kindly ask Year 1 parents to collect their children from the top yard using the designated pathways. Please avoid walking around the pathway directly outside the Year 1 room, as this area becomes congested and can make it difficult for pupils to spot their grown-ups.
Your support helps us create a smoother, less stressful transition for our youngest learners. Thank you for helping us keep things running safely and smoothly!
Brawddegau Bendigedig Bryn Hyfryd
This week's brawddeg bendigedig is...
Ble mae'r......
Where is the........
Blwyddyn 6 thought this would be a good sentence starter to use when we do our Pumpkin Trail next week. While we search we could ask..
Ble mae'r pumpkin?
It's fine for the responses to be in English, but just repacing 'Where is the'' with 'Ble mae'r' helps our learners learn sentence stems to use in different situations!
It would be great if this phrase could be used at home too to help familiarise the children with it and encourage them to become naturally bilingual!
Don't forget to use this phrase if you want to earn yourself a Welsh raffle ticket and the chance of winning 25 dojos from our Dreigiau Iaith and Peer Mediators!
Important Reminder regarding 'No Nuts in School'
We kindly remind all parents and carers that our school is a nut-free zone. This means that nuts and nut-based products must not be brought in snacks or packed lunches. Several of our students have severe nut allergies, and even trace amounts can trigger life-threatening reactions. These allergies are not just uncomfortable, they can be extremely dangerous, requiring immediate medical attention. By keeping nuts out of school, we’re helping to create a safe and inclusive environment for every child. Thank you for your continued support and vigilance in protecting our students’ health.
School Attendance
Remember not to take holidays in term time. Poor attendance can significantly impact on the well-being and academic attainment of your child. Our attendance target is 96% for the whole school. Please see chart which demonstrates the effects of good and poor attendance. Our current whole school attendance is 96.69%. If your child is unwell please contact the school office.
