Visit from the Bee Keeper 1E
Year 1 enjoyed a visit from Terry, a local bee keeper. He talked to the children about how the bees operate inside the hive and what they need to survive. He brought protective gear for the children to try on and lots of honey for them to taste!
Rail Safety Talk
Ms Gee kindly came into school to talk to the children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 about being safe near trains. The children really enjoyed the session, they had the opportunity to try on a hard hat and reflective jacket, and all came away with a goodie bag! Thank you Ms Gee!
A Message from our ECO Committee
World Bee Day 20th May 2025
As Spring is here and the flowers are in bloom, along comes our busy, buzzy visitors the bees!
A few weeks ago our Eco Committee at MPPS shared an assembly with the school regarding the importance of pollinators for our ecosystem. We are going to ‘bee’ following this up with some activities at school to make sure we welcome bees and their pollinator friends.
Most people react with a swat and a scream when they see a bee but they are essential to the production of our lives. They help with plant reproduction, which is essential for food production and the overall biodiversity of ecosystems. Additionally, bees provide valuable products like honey and beeswax, and they help support the growth of plants that feed livestock.
Nature Club will be busy making sure our school grounds are bee friendly by planting pollinator friendly plants, we will be creating bee baths and bee hotels and we definitely won’t be using pesticides.
Maybe you can do a little, that will go a long way, at home by joining in with one or more of the above activities.
We will keep you posted with our activities.

Dynamo Week
Week beginning Monday 19th May 2025 the whole school will be taking part in ‘DYNAMO’. Our pupils will be developing their entrepreneurial skills, they’ll be setting up a class business, working out costings, designing products, completing market research, advertising, training a sales team and hopefully working out profits made following the big DYNAMO sale on Friday 23rd May 2025 at 2.30pm.
We would like to invite parents to the DYNAMO event, as we thought you might like to purchase some of the wonderful products made by our pupils. If you are unable to attend please make sure your child has their money in a clearly labelled purse or envelope (change and coins would be helpful!). All funds raised will be put towards purchasing resources that will benefit every class.
If you’re able to attend, please collect your child at 2.30pm on Friday 23rd May 2025 from their class door and make your way to the DYNAMO stalls on the Middle Yard. Please access the school from the main pedestrian gate.
Nursery pupils will have the opportunity to take part in their own Dynamo sale at 11.00am during the morning session and 2.30pm during the afternoon. All parents are welcome.
Stay and Play after school provision will be running as usual. There will be opportunities for Stay and Play children to purchase from the Dynamo Stalls. Please can pupils bring their spending money in a purse/wallet which is clearly labelled.
We look forward to celebrating Dynamo week with our school community. We hope you can all make it.

National Numeracy Day Wednesday 21st May
As National Numeracy Day is in the middle of our Dynamo Week, we will combining the two! Dynamo is all about entrepreneurial skills and will include the children calculating costs, counting money and working out profit (hopefully not loss!). In addition to this, the children will be using their data handling skills to prepare surveys and generate frequency tables and a variety of graphs to reflect their findings. We are excited to combine the two and have a week of 'Marvellous Maths'!
Sun Protection
Now the Summer Term has started, I wanted to remind you of the importance of pupils wearing sunscreen to school. The sun's rays are particularly strong over the summer period and they can damage children's skin. Your child's health and well-being are very important to us. Please apply sunscreen (at least SPF 30) and 4 or 5 stars sunscreen in the Summer months. Encourage your child to wear a wide brimmed bucket hat or legionnaire style hat. School will continue to monitor time spent learning in the outdoors and encourage use of shady areas where possible. You can find out more information about keeping safe in the sun at www.cancerresearchuk.org .
Your support is very important. You can help us by:
Talking to your child about the importance of sun protection at home.
Sending your child to school with a wide-brimmed hat.
Providing plenty of water in a clearly labelled water bottle.
Thank you

School Attendance
Remember not to take holidays in term time. Poor attendance can significantly impact on the well-being and academic attainment of your child. Our attendance target is 96% for the whole school. Please see chart which demonstrates the effects of good and poor attendance. Our current whole school attendance is 94.74%. If your child is unwell please contact the school office.
Brawddegau Bendigedig Bryn Hyfryd
Next week is WYTHNOS DYNAMO!! Buying and Selling is a great opportunity for the children and parents to use their Welsh! Let's focus on two phrases that you'll hear from the sellers:
Beth wyt ti eisiau?
What do you want?
You can answer by saying...
Dwi eisiau.....
I want....
They may also ask you.....
Sawl un?
How many?
Just use your Welsh numbers to indicate how many of each item you would like!
We can't wait to hear lots of Welsh being used all around the stalls!
