Welcome Back
We've had a wonderful start to the second half of the Spring Term. Our pupils and staff have launched into Welsh week in preparation for our Eisteddfod this Friday. We've had the most amazing singing, poetry, writing, dancing, art, performance and creativity across the school. Our pupils are certainly very talented indeed.
Thank you for your support in attending parent consultations before the half term break, we value you working in partnership with us. Please be reminded Y5 consultations will take place on Wednesday 12th and Thursday 14th March. We look forward to working with you this term, hopefully the sun will continue to shine.
Whole School Readathon Thursday 6th March (World Book Day)
Huge thanks and well done to every pupil who took part in our school readathon for World Book Day. What a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to read to each other across the school. Enjoyment in reading was certainly evident and a fabulous experience for our pupils and staff.
It was so nice to see pupils bringing in books from a range of cultures and some books in different languages.
School have already started to purchase a variety of new texts for home readers, any sponsorship money will support us with this financially and greatly appreciated. Please return any sponsor money by Tuesday 11th March. We will keep you informed of how much money we've raised.
Look out for class photographs posted on DOJO. Thank you
Eisteddfod 2025
The whole school have ended their Welsh week with a fabulous Eisteddfod. The competitions have included handwriting, group singing, art, public speaking, recitation, country dancing and the peg doll Welsh home project. We have been amazed by the talent, creativity and particularly literacy skills exemplified throughout. Individual classes have also been studying a Welsh Artist and creating a whole class canvas to be displayed in the corridors. Thank you to all the pupils, and parents who have supported us to make this such an exciting week.
Year 3 Trip to Cardiff Museum - written by Millie and Esther
As part of our topic on sustainability we went to Cardiff Museum. We discussed what are the main concerns linked to our oceans and what we can do to help. Then we had to build a creation out of Lego to help raise awareness about pollution in our ocean. Then we looked around the museum in groups, had lunch and went to the gift shop - by Millie and Esther
Compost Bins - Thank you
Thank you to Mr Newbury for donating some compost bins to our school. This will really support our continued work in developing outdoor learning across the school. You may have noticed we have also had some beautiful trees planted to enhance our learning environment and encourage wildlife. These trees were donated from Newport City Council and a selection gained following an application from Mrs Chorley to the The Tree Council. We're very excited to she how they change throughout the school year.
