Extravaganza 'Voices of Victory'
To all the wonderful parents who joined us for the ‘Voices of Victory’ Extravaganza thank you!
Your presence made the event truly special, and it was a joy to see our community come together to celebrate the music, memories, and spirit of the 1940s. The energy, warmth, and support you brought created an atmosphere we won’t soon forget.
We’re incredibly proud of all the students who performed and participated, and your encouragement played a huge part in their success.
Huge thanks to Gwent Music and Mr Williams who supplied the sound system and all of the Staff and Pupils who put on such a fabulous event.
Many thanks,
Miss Rutledge and the Mount Pleasant Team
Transition Day 4th July 2025
We are delighted to share that our recent Transition Day was a joyful success! From our tiniest Nursery explorers to our confident Year 6 role models, the day was filled with smiles, laughter, and meaningful connections.
Throughout the activities, pupils had the chance to explore their new environments, meet their future teacher, and enjoy fun, engaging tasks designed to ease anxieties and build excitement for the year ahead.
A huge well done to Year 6 who visited Bassaleg School today. They had a great taster of what school life will be like and are ready for all the learning experiences ahead! Da iawn 6J!

MPPS Podcast
The digital leaders have been hard at work creating their next MPPS podcast. Give it a listen and hear what is happening around school and whether you can do the challenge for the next show. Well done to our digital leaders!
Open Door Policy
If you have any concerns regarding school, please contact the school office.
In the event of a concern, or issue, please be reminded that we have an open door policy where we are more than happy to discuss these concerns and resolve any issues quickly and effectively. Please refrain from using social media to air these concerns, this is not helpful and is also extremely detrimental to the wellbeing of our staff.
Thank you to our families who always contact the school, enabling us to work in partnership. This is very much appreciated.

School Attendance
Remember not to take holidays in term time. Poor attendance can significantly impact on the well-being and academic attainment of your child. Our attendance target is 96% for the whole school. Please see chart which demonstrates the effects of good and poor attendance. Our current whole school attendance is 94.8%. If your child is unwell please contact the school office.
Sun Protection
Now the Summer Term has started, I wanted to remind you of the importance of pupils wearing sunscreen to school. The sun's rays are particularly strong over the summer period and they can damage children's skin. Your child's health and well-being are very important to us. Please apply sunscreen (at least SPF 30) and 4 or 5 stars sunscreen in the Summer months. Encourage your child to wear a wide brimmed bucket hat or legionnaire style hat. School will continue to monitor time spent learning in the outdoors and encourage use of shady areas where possible. You can find out more information about keeping safe in the sun at www.cancerresearchuk.org .
Your support is very important. You can help us by:
Talking to your child about the importance of sun protection at home.
Sending your child to school with a wide-brimmed hat.
Providing plenty of water in a clearly labelled water bottle.
Thank you!
Brawddegau Bendigedig Bryn Hyfryd
This week's brawddeg yr wythnos is a great one for parents to use! If you want to find out what your children have been doing in school, just use the phrase:
Beth wnest ti yn yr ysgol heddiw?
What did you do in school today?
The children could also use the stem of the phrase to ask you what you did in work today:
Beth wnest ti yn dy waith heddiw?
What did you do in your work today?
In school, we could ask what they did in their play time, so it would be the same stem sentence with a change of vocabulary at the end:
Beth wnest ti yn dy amser chwarae heddiw ?
What did you do in your playtime today?
Once the stem phrase is learnt, it can be used in so many ways! Pob Lwc!
