A huge thank you to our MPPS community for your support with the Tesco Stronger Starts Project, which concluded on 31st March. Thank you so much to all of our MPPS families!
Y6 Trip to The Principality Stadium.
6J visited the Principality Stadium on Wednesday and had the most amazing tour of the heart of Welsh Rugby. The staff commented on their manners and fantastic questions, we are so incredibly proud of them all.
Thank you to Vincor Developments
Mr Corey and his team have been working tirelessly over the Easter period to build Mount Pleasant some raised beds to support learning in the outdoors. This is community working at it's best! The pupils and staff returned to school in amazement this week to find such a wonderful resource. Thank you from us all!
After School Clubs - Change to start date.
Due to staffing changes, After School Clubs will now begin week commencing Monday 12th May. Wednesday's Newport Live Football Club will continue as normal (Wednesday 7th May).
Please see the list of available clubs for the Summer Term below. A text will be sent on Friday 2nd May at 5pm in order to sign up via Google Forms. Please note that Girls Football and Newport Live Football will continue with the same pupils from previous terms, there is no need to sign up this time. Diolch!
Sun Protection
Now the Summer Term has started, I wanted to remind you of the importance of pupils wearing sunscreen to school. The sun's rays are particularly strong over the summer period and they can damage children's skin. Your child's health and well-being are very important to us. Please apply sunscreen (at least SPF 30) and 4 or 5 stars sunscreen in the Summer months. Encourage your child to wear a wide brimmed bucket hat or legionnaire style hat. School will continue to monitor time spent learning in the outdoors and encourage use of shady areas where possible. You can find out more information about keeping safe in the sun at www.cancerresearchuk.org .
Your support is very important. You can help us by:
Talking to your child about the importance of sun protection at home.
Sending your child to school with a wide-brimmed hat.
Providing plenty of water in a clearly labelled water bottle.
Thank you
PTA Disco
Huge thanks to the PTA for organising another successful Disco. The pupils and staff had great fun. The pupils were able to handle money and purchase goods from the tuck shop. We were very impressed by their mathematical skills! Well done everyone for bringing your entrance money in a clearly labelled envelope and spending money in a labelled purse/wallet.

School Attendance
Remember not to take holidays in term time. Poor attendance can significantly impact on the well-being and academic attainment of your child. Our attendance target is 96% for the whole school. Please see chart which demonstrates the effects of good and poor attendance. Our current whole school attendance is 94.77%. If your child is unwell please contact the school office.
Brawddegau Bendigedig Bryn Hyfryd
With all the beautiful weather we've had this week, the brawddeg bendigedig is ...
Sut mae't tywydd heddiw?
What's the weather today?
You can answer by saying...
Mae hi'n....
It's.....
In singing assembly, we all sang 'Can y Tywydd' (The weather song) which helps to answer the question with lyrics such as 'mae'n heulog heddiw, hip hwre!' and 'mae'n bwrw glaw heddiw, ych - a - fi!'
I wonder how many pupils can teach their parents our weather song?
