Da iawn i Flwyddyn 1 ar eu gwasanaeth dosbarth. Ar yr 8fed o Fehefin, bu’r dosbarth yn cyflwyno gwasanaeth i'r ysgol gyfan a rhieni yn seiliedig ar y thema 'Arwyr' . Diolch yn fawr i bob un am ddysgu ei geiriau ac am berfformio'n hyderus ar y llwyfan - gwaith gwych!

Well done to Year 1 on their class assembly. On the 8th of June, the class presented an assembly to the whole school and Year 1 parents based on the theme 'Heroes'.  A big thank you to everyone for learning their words and for performing confidently on stage - great work!

A huge thank you to the following companies for sponsoring the school so that we are able to invest in a brand new football kit for the school. The funds received will also enable the school to purchase a rugby kit and new netball kit.

Yn ystod wythnos y 26ain o Fehefin gwelwyd yr holl ddisgyblion yn cymryd rhan mewn Gweithgareddau Pontio. Ar y 27ain o Fehefin croesawyd ein disgyblion Derbyn a rhieni newydd i’r ysgol i gwrdd â staff ac i weld eu dosbarth newydd. Ar y 29ain o Fehefin aeth ein disgyblion meithrin newydd i sesiwn ‘Aros a Chwarae’ gyda’u rhieni lle cawsant cyfle i weld eu dosbarth newydd a chwrdd â staff y Meithrin.

Gwelsom hefyd ein disgyblion Blwyddyn 6 yn mynychu Ysgol Bro Morgannwg ar gyfer eu diwrnod pontio olaf lle cawsant eu gosod yn eu dosbarthiadau dosbarth newydd a chymryd rhan mewn amrywiaeth o weithgareddau. Yn olaf, ar y 29ain o Fehefin, treuliodd yr holl ddisgyblion o’r Meithrin i Flwyddyn 5 y diwrnod yn eu dosbarth newydd a chwrdd â’u hathro newydd. Cymerodd y disgyblion ran mewn gweithgareddau yn eu dosbarth newydd, treulio peth amser yn dod i adnabod eu hathro newydd a dilyn trefniadau’r dosbarth hwnnw am y dydd. Cyrhaeddodd disgyblion Blwyddyn 2 am y diwrnod drwy giât yr Adran Iau a bwyta eu cinio gyda gweddill yr Adran Iau. Gobeithiwn fod y plant wedi mwynhau’r diwrnod a’n bod wedi setlo eu nerfau ychydig cyn y tymor newydd ym mis Medi.

The week of the 26th of June saw all pupils participate in Transition Activities. On the 27th of June we welcomed our new Reception pupils and parents to school to meet with staff and to see their new classroom. On the 29th of June our new nursery pupils attended a 'Stay and Play' session with their parents where they also had the opportunity to see their new class and meet with the Nursery staff.

We also saw our Year 6 pupils attend Ysgol Bro Morgannwg for their final transition day where they were placed in their new form classes and participated in a variety of activities. Finally, on the 29th of June, all pupils from Nursery to Year 5 spent the day in their new class and met their new teacher. The pupils participated in activities in their new class and spent some time getting to know their new teacher and follow arrangement for that class for the day. Year 2 pupils arrived for the day via the Junior Gate and ate their lunch with the rest of the Junior department. We hope that the children enjoyed the day and that we have settled their nerves slightly before the new term in September.

Ar yr 16eg o Fehefin, mynychodd disgyblion o Flynyddoedd 2 a 3 ŵyl rygbi TAG yng Nghlwb Rygbi Llanilltud Fawr. Nod y digwyddiad oedd codi ymwybyddiaeth o rygbi a chynnwys ysgolion lleol o'r gymuned. Er bod y tywydd yn gynnes, mwynhaodd y disgyblion y sesiwn yn fawr gan ddysgu sgiliau rygbi newydd. Diolch i Callum Digby, Swyddog Datblygu Rygbi ac i ddisgyblion Ysgol Uwchradd Llanilltud Fawr am drefnu’r diwrnod ac am wahodd disgyblion Dewi Sant i fynychu’r digwyddiad.

On the 16th of June, pupils from Years 2 and 3 attended a TAG rugby festival at Llantwit Major Rugby Club. The aim of the event was to raise awareness of rugby and involve local schools from the community. Although the weather was warm, the pupils thoroughly enjoyed the session learning new rugby skills. Thank you to Callum Digby, Rugby Development Officer and to pupils from Llantwit Major High School for organising the day and inviting pupils from Dewi Sant to attend the event.

Ar y 13eg o Fehefin, perfformiodd y côr unwaith eto yn y Caffi Dementia lleol. Yn dilyn eu perfformiad yn gynharach yn y flwyddyn, gwahoddwyd y côr i ganu eto yn y Caffi Dementia gan berfformio ystod o ganeuon. Rydym wedi gweld y côr yn tyfu yn ddiweddar gyda mwy o ddisgyblion yn mynychu ymarferion côr yn wythnosol. I rai disgyblion, dyma oedd eu tro cyntaf yn perfformio o flaen cynulleidfa. Da iawn i bawb ar berfformiad mor hyfryd a diolch yn fawr i Mrs Phillips a Miss Samuel am baratoi’r côr ar gyfer y digwyddiad. Os oes unrhyw ddisgyblion yn dymuno ymuno â’r côr, siaradwch â naill ai Mrs Phillips neu Miss Samuel. Mae croeso i fechgyn fynychu hefyd.

On the 13th of June, the choir performed once again at the local Dementia Cafe. Following their performance earlier in the year, the choir were invited to sing again at the Dementia Cafe performing a range of songs. We have seen the choir grow recently with more pupils attending choir practice on a weekly basis. For some pupils, this was their first time performing in front of an audience. Well done to all on such a lovely performance and a big thank you to Mrs Phillips and Miss Samuel for preparing the choir for the event. If there are any pupils who wish to join the choir, please speak to either Mrs Phillips or Miss Samuel. Boys are more than welcome to attend also.

Prynhawn Agored Darllen/Reading Open Afternoon

Diolch enfawr i'r holl rieni a fynychodd y Prynhawn Agored Darllen ar yr 8fed o Fehefin. Roedd y prynhawn yn gyfle i rieni a gofalwyr weld yr holl adnoddau darllen sy’n cael eu defnyddio yn yr ysgol i hybu a datblygu sgiliau darllen pob disgybl. Oherwydd effaith Covid-19 ar ddarllen, mae’r ysgol wedi sicrhau bod darllen yn flaenoriaeth ysgol gyfan ac yn gweithio’n galed i ddatblygu sgiliau darllen Cymraeg a Saesneg i bob disgybl.

A huge thank you to all parents that attended the Reading Open Afternoon on the 8th of June. The afternoon was an opportunity for parents and carers to view all reading resources that are used in the school to promote and develop reading skills for all pupils. Due to the impact of Covid-19 on reading, the school has ensured that reading is a whole school priority and is working hard to develop both Welsh and English reading skills for all pupils.

Yn ystod wythnos y 19eg o Fehefin, cymerodd pob disgybl ran yn Mabolgampau'r ysgol. Buom yn ffodus iawn gyda’r tywydd a sicrhaodd fod pob sesiwn wedi gallu digwydd yn ystod yr wythnos. Bu disgyblion o’r Meithrin i Flwyddyn 6 yn cymryd rhan mewn gweithgareddau amrywiol o rasys sbrintio, rasys rhedeg hir a rasys dŵr. Diolch i'r holl staff am sicrhau bod pob sesiwn wedi rhedeg mor esmwyth â phosibl. Diolch hefyd i’r disgyblion am eu hymddygiad gwych ac am gystadlu yn y cystadlaethau amrywiol.

During the week of the 19th of June, all pupils participated in Sports Day. We were very fortunate with the weather which ensured that all events could go ahead during the week. Pupils from Nursery to Year 6 participated in various activities from sprint races, long-distance races and water races. Thank you to all staff for ensuring that each event ran as smoothly as possible. Thanks also go to the pupils for their fantastic behaviour and for competing in the various events. A huge congratulations to Tathan House who were the overall winners. Well done also to all pupils that took part on the day. Ar yr 22ain o Fehefin, cymerodd yr holl ddisgyblion ran yn yr Eisteddfod Lenyddol lle cynhelir cystadlaethau ysgrifennu straeon a barddoniaeth. Mae disgyblion o bob dosbarth yn cystadlu yn y cystadlaethau gyda’r tri uchaf o bob dosbarth yn cael eu gwobrwyo gyda thystysgrif 1af, 2il neu 3ydd. Diolch i ddisgyblion Blwyddyn 6 a'r  Derbyn am berfformio eu dawns arbennig i gloi’r seremoni. Llongyfarchiadau enfawr i Anwen ar ennill y gadair ac i Mirain am ennill y goron.

On the 22nd of June, all pupils participated in the Literary Eisteddfod which sees competitions for writing stories and poetry. Pupils from all classes compete in the competitions with the top three from each class rewarded with a 1st, 2nd or 3rd certificate. Thank you to Year 6 and Reception pupils for performing their special dance to close the ceremony. A huge congratulations to Anwen on winning the chair and to Mirain for winning the crown.

Braf oedd croesawu aelodau’r Cyngor y Dref i’r ysgol ar yr 21ain o Fehefin. Bwriad yr ymweliad oedd cael golwg ar ardd yr ysgol fel rhan o ddathliadau’r coroni yn ddiweddar. Croesawodd Miss Davies a disgyblion y Meithrin a Derbyn yr ymwelwyr gan ddangos y planhigion a’r blodau amrywiol y maent wedi bod yn eu tyfu. Prif thema gardd yr ysgol yw cadwraeth ac maent wedi plannu hadau i gefnogi Wild Wales Seeds. Diolch i’r aelodau gan gynnwys Cynghorydd Gerwyn Thomas am ymweld â'r ysgol ac am yr anrhegion garddio i’r disgyblion.

It was a pleasure to welcome members of the Town Council to the school on the 21st of June. The aim of the visit was to view the school garden as part of the recent coronation celebrations. Miss Davies and pupils from Nursery and Reception welcomed the visitors showing the various plants and flowers that they have been growing. The main theme for the school garden is conservation and they have planted seeds in support of Wild Wales Seeds. Thank you to the members of the Town Council which included Councillor Gerwyn Thomas for visiting the school and for the garden gifts for the pupils.

Y Ras Amryliw

Cynhelir y Ras Amryliw ar ddydd Gwener y 23ain o Fehefin. Roedd y digwyddiad yn llwyddiant mawr gyda nifer o blant, rhieni a staff yn cymryd rhan. PTA Events for the Summer Term

Freeze Pop Friday

Freeze Pop Fridays will continue until the end of term apart from the 7th of July which is the date for the Summer Fayre! Grab your icy treat every Friday after school but please ensure you discard your wrappers in a bin after finishing or take the rubbish home.

Summer Fayre

Preparations are underway for the biggest PTA event of the year, the Summer Fayre which is scheduled for the 7th of July. Save the date and get in touch if you have any ideas or would like to get involved!

Colour Run

The Color Race took place on Friday the 23rd of June. The event was a great success with many children, parents and staff taking part. Over £400 was raised so big congratulations to the Parents' Association for organising the event. Go to the PTA or School Twitter page to see lots of photos from the event.
