FAQs

dear year six

The current situation means you will not be having the normal transition experience, so I would like to share with you all the things that are important and, for me, wonderful about our school.

First, I would like to talk about navigating your way around and getting to lessons. Navigating the school can be quite hard at first and that is why, for the first two weeks, you will have a lot of people helping you to your lessons, if you get really lost, there are two maps on the ground floor, one by the front desk at Reception and one by the back entrance. At the start of the year you will be given a timetable, the timetable will tell you what lessons you have, where you have them and what teacher you will have for that lesson.

During lunch or break you can either bring your own food or get food at school. Getting food in the cafeteria is simple. Your parents have an account that they put money on then, during the first term, you have your finger scanned and you use your finger to pay electronically. All the foods in the cafeteria are good and I can promise that everyone will like something in the cafeteria. Some of my personal favourites are the waffles, pizza, milkshakes and fruit juices. The pizzas are my favourite and I sometimes bring them home after school (after school club) which leads to our next topic.

There are many after-school clubs and there is something for everyone. There are sports clubs, there is drama club, coding club, language clubs and much more. All of them are optional. Personally, I do netball, drama, hockey and horse riding. I enjoy all of them as they include everyone and are a good way to make friends. I would encourage you to not be afraid to try new things in the clubs. I am the only boy in the netball club, (although one more boy joined recently, just before the school closed for lockdown), and everyone has been welcoming and allowed me to play a game I really enjoy.

To conclude, I can say, with ease, that it is my favourite school out of the six schools I have been in and the food is great. I look forward to meeting some of you in September and please feel free to find me and ask me anything.

Yours sincerely

William (Year 7)
