This terms learning
This week Dosbarth Dwynwen enjoyed making healthy apple and banana muffins. The learners loved measuring, mixing, and talking about healthy ingredients. They were so proud of their tasty creations and showed great teamwork throughout the activity. We also tried some of receptions healthy flapjacks.
To end the week, we celebrated National Storytelling Day by learning about the Welsh author Roald Dahl. The learners explored some of his most famous books and enjoyed sharing one of his stories together.
Big School's Birdwatch 2026!
This week Dosbarth Dwynwens outdoor learning was focused on bird watching, we created our own bird feeders from recyclable materials which we filled with bird food. We then went on the hunt for the perfect spots to place these feeders. We ended the session with the learners observing their surroundings and painting what they can see.
This week we completed our first outdoor learning session of the term! We made emotion potions based on the book 'the colour monster', which is our focus for our health and wellbeing sessions. We also made bug hotels from natural materials which we found around the school grounds.
First week back! This week we have been busy exploring our new topic which focuses on light and dark. To launch the new topic, year reception, 1, 2 and 3 worked with eachother to complete 6 carosouel activites all based around our new topic. They explored how shaddows are made, how light reflects differently off different materials and even made their own circuits which included a working bulb. We have also introduced the 'Investigation Area' where it gives the learners the opportunity to explore science using different materials and items. To end the week we had a visitor from author Alex Warton who shared some of his poems and books with the learners.
Autumn Term 2025
Last week of term! Wow, what a busy last week Dosbarth Dwynwen have had. We had a visit from Mr and Mrs Clause, who read us a lovely story. We had a foundation phase party where we played lots of party games and ate yummy party food. Finally, to end the week we had a special treat from our class elves, who surprised us with hot chocolates and biscuits. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Another busy week in Dosbarth Dwynwen this week! In math's we have been looking at 3D and 2D shapes and the differences. We have also had a visit from the Naughty Elf Jingle Bell! The class came up with a brilliant idea to write a letter to the elf asking it different questions. Jingle Bell even wrote a letter back answering the learners questions!
Wow! what a week of celebrating we have had in Dosbarth Dwynwen this week!
We created a class wreath to show our respect for Remembrance Day.
We shared our own personal celebration photos with the class, where we got to learn about how others celebrate with their family.
Finally, we dressed up on Friday for Children In Need.
This week our focus in Dosbarth Dwynwen was the celebration of Bonfire Night. We made chocolate sparklers and wrote instructions on how we made them. We also created our own firework pictures using our handprints and chalk.
Wear it pink!
Dosbarth Dwynwen had a surprise when a pink truck and unicorn arrived on our school yard!
We had such fun raising money for Breast Cancer.
Diwali 2025!
This week our focus in class has been the celebration of Diwali.
Throughout the week we have looked at how and why Diwali is celebrated. We have made our own Rangoli patterns, created Diya Lamps and have experienced Diwali dancing through music.
Dosbarth Dwynwen have had a very busy week celebrating many different occasions!
We visited our local church on Tuesday to attend our annual Harvest Festival, where we performed our class poem and sang our Harvest songs with reception.
We also celebrated Shwmae Day on Thursday to show our appreciation for the Welsh language.
Finally, we showed our support for show racism the red card on Friday by all wearing red to school.
This week we have been looking at Harvest Festival and signs of autumn. We walked to Beech Woods and discussed the different signs of Autumn, we also collected acorns, sticks and leaves.
