Spring term's learning
This week's learning.....
Week beginning 23rd February......
We had so much fun inside the 'Explorer Dome' this week. We made rainbows and learnt about the properties of light.
We safely looked at a projection of the sun, and could see that it is a giant sphere of plasma.
We listened to a 3.000 year old story about the stars, and learnt to identify Orion (the story told us about the three diamonds on his belt) and his dog, Sirius, in the night sky.
Week beginning 9th February.....
Year 6 and Reception work collaboratively in our Forest School Sessions. We are are identifying changes in the environment each week. We are also learning about fire safety. We toasted marshmallows; they were delicious!
Week beginning 26th January......
Week beginning 19th January.......
We have been enjoying our weekly Forest School sessions with Year 6.
This week we played Forest School games and took our weekly photograph in the school grounds with our Forest School partner. This will mean we can monitor changes in nature over time.
We also did some bird watching in different areas of the school grounds - we spotted quite a few different types of bird, despite the heavy rain!
January 2026
We've enjoyed using our new sensory resources.
We've set up a new role play area with a range of resources that are helping us engage with others in imaginative play.
During our first week back we have taken part in a carousel of activities to launch our 'changes - sunshine & shadows' theme. We worked collaboratively with learners from Year 1, 2 and 3.
December 2026
A super busy few weeks to end the term! We have taken part in a wide range of activities to deepen our understanding of Christmas and what it means to us. We have have prepared for our Reception class Nativity play 'Twinkle, Twinkle, Follow the Star!' The learners put on an amazing performance! We shared our Christingle service in St. Catwg's Church and have enjoyed a lovely Christmas lunch together.
This week we have been looking for signs of Autumn. We walked to Llangattock Beech Woods and looked at different types of trees and their leaves. We found lots of signs that we are in Autumn!
This week we've been talking about the ways we celebrate birthdays.
We baked a class birthday cake for Tedi Dewi, our class teddy, to celebrate his 5th birthday! We lit candles and sang 'Penblwydd Hapus', and then we ate our cake! Roedd yn flasus!/It was delicious!
