Platforms
Seesaw
Seesaw is our primary method of communication. Teachers use this each morning to notify children of their work daily. All work for the day is uploaded by 9am.
Our teachers will be available to answer any questions on here between the hours of 8:55am and 3:10pm.
Each morning, there will be an English, Maths and Topic lesson uploaded.
Each child has their own login and is able to access on any internet enabled device.
Apps
There are two applications available:
The first is for parents and family designed for you to see what learning is taking place as well as messaging your child's teacher, you can download the app on Google Play Store and the Apple App Store
The second is Seesaw Class, this is where children log in and complete their work. All work assigned by the teacher to the children will appear here. You can also download this app on Google Play Store and the Apple App Store
For help, please visit the help section on the Seesaw Website or message your class teacher
Google Classroom
Google Classroom is a great way of completing work! Similar to Seesaw, it allows children to contact teachers and comment on their assigned work. It also allows teachers to assign, return and mark their work.
If work is set on Google Classroom, teachers will inform you each morning on Seesaw, notifying you where it is. You'll always see the work that has been assigned in the 'Stream' section.
Children need to log in to Google Classrooms using their Hwb account details '____@hwbcymru.net'.
There is so much available to children on Classrooms such as Docs, Slides, Sheets and Forms to name a few.
Apps
There is only one app needed for Google Classrooms as everything is in one place.
You can find it on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
You can also use this on a desktop by going to classroom.google.com
Microsoft Teams
Each day, there will be an opportunity for your child to engage with the adults in their class virtually and live via Microsoft Teams. You will receive information via Seesaw on your child's allocated slot for meetings that are taking place the following week. Timetables will be shared given a specific time each day. Similarly to parents evening, your child will not be admitted to the meeting until their allocated time and will remain in the waiting room. This could be as another group is currently meeting with their teacher. The reason for this is that we have attempted to keep the groups as small as possible to encourage discussion and maximise learner and teacher engagement.
You should be able to join the meeting by logging in to Microsoft Teams, either on the app for Windows, Mac, iOS, Android or the Desktop app.
Log in using the Hwb account details: '____@hwbcymru.net', click calendar on the far left and the meeting should be visible on the day. Click 'join' to enter the meeting and wait to be admitted.
There is so much support available on Microsoft Teams' Help Section, please visit there if you have any questions, or contact your teacher on Seesaw.
Mathletics is for teachers and parents who want to engage their students with maths learning
Mathletics gives our children the chance to take learning into their own hands, developing their autonomy, problem-solving and ability to work independently. It's the engaging online math program made for blended classrooms and home learning. Our teachers set fun practice and fluency activities, while challenging their thinking with problem-solving and reasoning questions, and reward their learning with certificates and points – wherever they might be!
To access Mathletics, please log in on the computer or download the iOS or Android app.
Our teachers at Llandough will set work through Mathletics in line with their current Curriculum program of study. This needs to be done in addition to their daily maths lesson task handed out on Seesaw or Google Classroom.
Readiwriter is a recent addition to our school. Its purpose is to support our children with their spellings. Their teachers would have already assigned them words to spell which need to be completed in a variety of ways such as look say cover as well as putting them into a sentence. It uses the same software as Mathletics. To change from Mathletics to Readiwriter, click the R in the top left hand corner when logged in.
You can also use Readiwriter on the computer's browser.
Bug Club
What is Bug Club?
A reading programme that we use daily to help our children read. You'll already be familiar with Bug Club and the amazing quanity of books available which have been assigned according to the ability of each child. If a book is in your child's library, they'll need to read and comprehend what they've read by clicking the bugs and answering the questions.
Children can enjoy reading books onscreen and completing fun quiz questions found in the eBooks. The quiz questions will help the children practise their reading skills. The eBooks are also audiobooks, so children can enjoy hearing an expressive reading of the story.
Again, all you need to access Bug Club is an internet enabled device.
