The cluster has been fortunate to work in partnership with Professor Michael Waters for several years. Professor Waters, a highly respected figure in education and former Director of Curriculum at the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority, brings a wealth of expertise in curriculum design, pedagogy and school improvement. His collaborative and research-informed approach has supported our schools in developing consistent, high-quality teaching and learning practices.
Our first joint project focused on the effective use and the transitional need of manipulatives in classrooms. This work not only strengthened conceptual understanding for learners but was also formally recognised by Estyn as an example of strong practice.
Over the past two years, our most recent project has centred on establishing a shared and consistent pedagogical approach across the cluster. Agreed teaching methods have helped create continuity for learners as they transition between schools. As part of this work, we have introduced a ‘passport’ initiative that showcases students’ achievements in key areas of mathematics, celebrating progress and supporting pupil ownership of learning.
To further enhance accessibility and engagement, this website has been developed as a hub for learners, parents and staff, providing resources, guidance and examples of best practice across the cluster.
