Time Capsule Project

Dearest Apollo Families,

As you continue to navigate this incredible time in the privacy of your home, we realize that your job description as parent has enormously evolved to include: childcare worker, healthcare provider, counselor, occupational/physical therapist, chef/cook, teacher, and more. We know it is challenging for you to manage all of these jobs while keeping your children safe, healthy, and well fed.

Many of you are worried about the lack of income, paying bills, accessing unemployment if eligible, working as an essential worker or trying to manage working from home. You likely have a range of emotions and feelings all in one given day.

With the news and media providing overstimulating information on all devices, you might find it difficult to turn off. So, give yourself permission to unplug for a bit, to recharge and reset your body, mind, and soul so that you can prioritize what is right and best for your individual family. Know that we will continue to offer resources should you need them, so reach out if you find yourself struggling to locate such supports.

I have heard many inspirational quotes and messages over the last month, but there is one that seems so simple yet meaningful. “Your child will not remember the homeschool curriculum as much as they will remember how safe, secure, and loved they feel during this most unprecedented and incredulous time.”

With this note, we are attaching a buildable COVID 19 Time Capsule Activity Book for your family to help capture this historical time. We know your preschoolers, toddlers, and babies are too young to complete this activity. We hope in time you will complete the Time Capsule on behalf of your family to share with future generations. To make it more manageable, we will send a weekly page or two to help build the Time Capsule slowly. If you find this too overwhelming and just one more thing, then simply disregard. There is absolutely no pressure to complete this activity, it’s just an option to track the who, what, when, where, why, and how this pandemic has impacted you and your family. We will have paper copies available when we return to school if you are interested then.

With good thoughts and well wishes, know that you are in our hearts and minds, we continue to think of you…
