What is a Yondr pouch?
Yondr Pouches are lockable pouches that limit student access to Smart Devices (Smartphones, Airpods, and Smartwatches). Students will be expected to lock their smart devices only during school hours (7:35 am-2:45 pm).

Timberlane has had an ‘Off and Away for the Day’ Smart Device policy for several years, in which students are expected to have smart devices in their lockers and off during the school day. We believe that having a device-free school day exponentially increases students’ opportunities for academic success and social and emotional safety. Yondr pouches will help to enhance our current policy and ensure that students learn in a distraction-free environment, in class, during passing times, and during lunch and recess. We care deeply about our students’ well-being and success at school.

DAILY PROCEDURES
Students will put smart devices (including Phones, Smartwatches, and Airpods) into their pouch upon exiting from the morning gathering locations (7th/8th-grade cafeteria; 6th-grade lobby). A staff member will be present to confirm the locking of smart devices as students leave the gathering location and head to their lockers in advance of homeroom. Pouches should be kept in lockers throughout the day and may be unlocked at any of the unlocking stations at 2:45 pm.
EARLY DISMISSAL
If a student leaves early, they will be able to unlock their pouch in the office.
WHAT IF A STUDENT FORGETS THEIR POUCH ON A GIVEN DAY?
If a student forgets their pouch periodically, that student can report to an administrator immediately and put their phone in the secure holding area for the day with no penalty. After 3 incidences of a forgotten pouch, students receive a lunch detention. If the pouch is lost, students will be required to purchase a new one.
WHAT IF A STUDENT FORGETS TO UNLOCK AT THE END OF THE DAY?
We have an outdoor magnet if a student needs to unlock it after school hours, located outside the main entrance.

Students are expected to bring their pouch to and from school each day, just as they do their Chromebooks and other school supplies. When the pouch is unlocked at the end of the day, students are encouraged to put them in their backpack or a safe location so that they can be accessed the following day.
What happens if the pouch is lost or damaged?

If pouches are lost or damaged, a replacement fee will be charged ($30 for a new pouch).
*It is recommended that students put their pouch in their backpack immediately after unlocking at the end of the day. Some students choose to tether their pouch to their backpack so that it does not get misplaced.*
