YOUR VOTE COUNTS
Local elections such as bond referendums offer voters a chance to have a significant impact. Sometimes, these elections are decided by just a few votes.
Registered voters can cast ballots in person or by mail for the Hopewell Valley Regional School District referendum, which will appear on the general election ballot.
Be prepared to vote on Nov. 4!

If you previously requested a Vote By Mail ballot for all elections, you should be sent one automatically. Mercer County is expected to send these ballots by late September, so keep an eye on your mail!
Request a Vote By Mail ballot by submitting a paper application to the County Clerk’s office. To receive a ballot in the mail, your application must arrive at the County Clerk’s office by Tuesday, Oct. 28.
You may also request a Vote By Mail ballot in person at the County Clerk’s Office (209 S. Broad St. Trenton) until 3 p.m. on Nov. 3, the day before the referendum.
To RETURN your ballot, you can do the following:
Mail it. Your ballot must be postmarked by Tuesday, Nov. 4.
Deposit it in a drop box. You must submit your ballot in one of Mercer County’s secure drop boxes by 8 p.m. on Nov. 4. Drop box locations include the County Clerk’s Office in Trenton and the Hopewell Township Administration Building, 201 Washington Crossing-Pennington Road in Titusville.
Deliver it in person. You may deliver your ballot in person to the Mercer County Board of Elections Office, 930 Spruce St. in Lawrence, by 8 p.m. on Nov. 4.
Mail-in ballots cannot be submitted at polling places.
The General Election gives registered voters the opportunity to cast their ballot during an in-person early voting period prior to Election Day. This is another convenient option if you are not available on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
Early voting will take place from Saturday, Oct. 25, to Sunday, Nov. 2 at Mercer County’s designated in-person early voting locations. The Hopewell Valley site is at Pennington Fire Company, 120 Broemel Place.
Polls will be open during that period Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.–8 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
Vote in person at your regular polling place, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4. If you are not sure where to vote, enter your address in New Jersey’s Polling Place Search Tool.
Voters can track their ballot using the state’s voter portal. Setting up an account is free, and while this is an optional step, it is the only way to reliably monitor the status of your ballot online.
If you are told at the polls that you cannot vote for any reason (not registered, a ballot was already mailed to you, etc.), ask for a “provisional ballot.”
A provisional ballot is a voter’s safety net. It will be counted if election officials can confirm its legitimacy after processing all in-person and mailed ballots.
Voters can call 1-877-NJVOTER (1-877-658-6837) after the election to check the status of provisional ballots.
