NOTICE:

At the moment we are doing our best to accomodate everyones Behind the Wheel needs.  If you are a student of Mr. Skolka, Mr. Venanzi, Mr. Nucera or Ms. Ashman we are starting to schedule students for Mid May at the earliest.  Please contact your teacher direclty to check available times and to be added to a call list for any last minute cancellations.

If you are a student of Ms. Ashman please contact Mr. Nucera as she is currenlty on Maternity Leave until June.

Students of Mr. Machin may continue to contact him for spring bookings

We thank you in advance for your patience and please remember your student driver needs their permit at least 6 months (NOT a full year) in order to get their license at 17.

Cost for the Behind the Wheel Experience:

You will need to write two checks:

1- $355.00 payable to:

Hopewell Valley Board of Ed

2 - $ 10.00 payable to: 

NJ Division of Motor Vehicle

Optional - If you would like us to purchase the Red GDL Decals for your vehicles we will gladly do so.  They are $4.00 per set.  Please send an additional check for the appropriate amount of sets you would like.  Checks payable to NJ Division of Motor Vehicle.

Dont have a vehicle that meets the Driver Exam Requirements?  We have you covered.


In addition to the 6 hour Behind-The-Wheel, we now offer Road Test services.  If you DO NOT have a vehicle suitable for the Road Test you can schedule an appointment to use one of the BTW vehicles.  The fee for this appointment is $75.  Please coordinate with one of the driving instructors prior to scheduling your Road Test to ensure availability.  Checks can be made payable to Hopewell Valley Board of Ed.


Just like the 6 Hours Behind-The-Wheel experience we will coordinate with you and your child in preparation for the Road Test.  We will pick them up from home or take them from school on the day of their driver exam.

Documents Needed


1.Original Birth Certificate or Valid Passport 

(Copies are not accepted).  These will be returned to you.


 

2. Social Security Card (Copy or Original)

Original will be returned.





3. Testing Ticket Indicating a Pass of the Written Exam

4. Green NJ Permit Form:

Can be obtained from your Sophomore Wellness teacher or picked up on the window sill by the Athletics Office. This form must be filled out in black or blue pen ink.

*If your teen is learning at a below-average pace, he or she may not be ready to learn highway and lane-changing skills. We welcome calls from parents to discuss progress.  Lessons are given at night and in inclement weather. If a lesson is scheduled at such a time, your teen will be taught how to minimize risks. All students will recieve a feeback form that documents proficiency in skills or if the student needs more practice.

Below you can find an example of the feedback form we use for the behind the wheel experience.  Students will recieve a copy at the end of their 6 hours to review and keep for their records.
