Q: Do I have to sign up for all four weeks/12 days?
A: If you want to sign up for one, two, or three weeks of camp, circle which weeks you want on the registration form, and divide the total tuition by four for one week. For example, if tuition is $150 for a local child, it's $37.50/week. We do charge by the week; there is no per-day cost.
Q: What will my child need to bring to camp?
A: On any given day, activities may include hiking, swimming, or playing in the rain, so with that in mind, please send your child with the following items each day:
A comfortable backpack
A healthy lunch and snack
A water bottle
Comfortable hiking shoes are a must
Sunscreen--please apply in the morning before/upon arrival and leave in bag for the day
Bug repellent
Water shoes/sandals, if desired
Bathing suit
Towel
Rain gear when weather is wet
A change of clothes for all ages--you never know what we'll be getting into!
Q: What is your policy on allergies?
A: Kids bring their own food from home. If your child has an allergy, it is important that you let us know so that we can take the proper precautions. Please make a note of your child's allergy in the section we've provided on on our registration form so we can contact you and make a plan, such as providing safe snacks, working with the school nurse to further train our staff to meet your child's specific needs, and helping bring awareness to all our camp families for lunches.
Q: How can I contact camp during the day?
A: When you sign up for camp, you will receive a welcome email, providing you with the two cell phone numbers of the camp co-directors. You can text or call at any time with concerns, change of plans, or just to see how your child's day is going. You can also try calling the school at 496-2487.
Q: If my child has tutoring during the camp day, will he/she miss out on activities?
A: There are camp "choices" in the morning and again in the afternoon. Most of the time, those choices are the same, so if there was something your child missed in the morning due to tutoring, there will likely be a chance to do it in the afternoon. We also work closely with tutoring staff to arrange the day with your child's interests in mind.
Q: My child is not comfortable in the water yet. Will there be swimming?
A: We will collect information on your child's swimming level and have you fill out a permission slip. There is the option to chose "wading/sprinkler only." During the camp day, when one choice is heading down to the river, there is always another choice to stay back at camp to participate in other activities, enjoy the sprinkler, or head to a stream for wading only. We will honor what your choice as a parent is for your child in terms of what they are allowed to do.
