When I'm not teaching art, I might be...
Making all kinds of art including wood carving
Practicing yoga
Sewing, especially historical costume
Though I was born in New Mexico, I grew up in Round Rock, TX for several years. In my school years I learned how to play the viola and took part in Color Guard in high school. I finished out my high school career at a charter art school where I developed my passion for ceramics and studied it in an apprentiship program.
I kept my focus on ceramics in college and got a job working in the clay studio on campus at WNMU. I even went on to work at a hand made tile company during the summers.
In 2023 I became a member of Greater Austin Clay Artists and continued refining my personal style.
I love the practicality of functional ceramics (ceramics you can use) and am currently on a mission to uncover the perfect form to accompany my daily cup of coffee or tea.
I'm inspired by goblet-like forms, but recently I have been fascinated by creating illusions of suspension by carving into false bases of my mugs.

"Every decently-made object, from a house to a lamp post to a bridge, spoon, or egg cup, is not just a piece of 'stuff' but a physical embodiment of human energy - testimony to the magical ability of our species to take raw materials and turn them into things of use, value, and beauty."
