Welcome SW 7.pdf

 Welcome to my Science Website!

Here, I will share some of the things that I will be learning about in 8th grade science.

Our monthly goals will also be described.  The goal for August and September was curiosity.  Activities we did for this were our Wonder Journals, the Hungry Hungry Sphero challenge, Water quality testing, evaluating article authenticity, the cicada lab, and a microscopy lab. My favorite was the Hungry Hungry Spheros because  I love building things and I'm very crafty so I was in my element.

Updates for October, November, and December

I really liked the plate tectonics project because I'm very crafty. I also liked the seismic safe building project and I think I could've worked on the structure a little bit so it was more supported.  I can do better on my quizzes but I think I'm doing good so far with them. I think I could study more to get those quiz grades up. I really like updating the website because it's super relaxing to do.

Updates for January, February, and March

For the past three months, we have done many interactive activities. For example, we did sketch notes, book creators, and demonstrations. My top three activities would probably be Build a Launcher Challenge, Newtons Cradle,  and Science in GIF s. I liked these activities a lot because they were fun and not-stressful compared to other projects.

Updates for April and May

In April and May we did a lot of different projects. For instance, we had notes on Frogbit, Punnett square practice, Rock Pocket Mouse project,  and learning about Mitosis and Meiosis. He had a lot of other projects along with that but my top two would have to be the Alien Genetics Gizmo and the Chickenology Lab because they were fun homework assignments that weren't just watching a video but I also learned a lot about genetics from them.

Final Thoughts on 8th Grade Science

I thought this year was a success in science. I learned a lot and enjoyed most of the projects we were doing. What I enjoyed the most was the Seismic Building project because it was very interactive and fun when you saw everyone's building try to undergo the different waves from the shake table. What I enjoyed the least was probably watching the video about the beginning of life.  I didn't like it that much because it was really long and I didn't learn as much as when I do projects. In the future, I would like to experiment with chemicals and mixing chemicals.
