Welcome Page

Welcome PJ 1.pdf

Welcome to my science website.

Here, I will share some of the things that I am learning in 8th-grade science.

Our monthly goals will also be described. The goal for August and September was curiosity. Activities that we did for this were the Wander Journals, Hungry Hungry Sphero Challenge, microscopy lab, using IPads, and water testing.

My favorite activity was Hungry Hungry Sphero Challenge because it was very challenging and fun.

Update for October, November, and December.

This month we had many projects including the tectonic plates project and the same safe building project which is my favorite. Most of the other projects were sketches of what we learned or will learn which works for me, except for the children's book we had to write. Over these months, we took many notes in our notebooks, but we took not so many quizzes. We also did many hexagonal thinking activities. In addition, we sometimes went for a walk to the lake and did a water quality test which tells us more about what there is in the lake. We also used the Quakefeed app, which is an app that tells us about all the earthquakes happening around the world and their properties. Class is elementary because the only supplies we need are our Chromebook, notebook, and a pencil.

Updates for January, February, and March.

During these months we learned about Newton's three laws of motion and had build a paper ball launcher with these laws. In addition, we discussed the Ohio toxic train spill and learned the facts behind it. Also had a zoom call with exoplanetary scientists that explained the science behind planetary erosion which I personally enjoyed. And finally, we learned about electricity and magnetism.

Updates for April and May.

For the last two months of this year we compleated many chalanges. Some of them include alien genetics gizmo, chickenology lab and we tested the water quality for the last time this was very interesting because our theacher had done this water quality tests for 3 yers in a row at practicly the same time of the year. The final enginiring  chalange of the year was one of the most interesting and chalanging.

Final Thoughts on 8th Grade Science.

I had enjoied  this year of science. Some of the best moments were the engeniring chalanges and actevities. I will miss this class, but will continue to work hard next year. In the next year I wold like to dive eathen deeper in to science and explore new topics.
