Welcome NM 1.pdf

Welcome to my science website!

Here, I will share some of the things that I am learning in 8th grade science.

Our monthly goals will also be described. The goal for August and September was curiosity. Activities that we did for this were the Wonder Journals, Hungry Hungry Sphero challenge, microscopy lab using IPads and water testing.

My favorite activity was the Hungry Hungry Sphero challenge because I liked working as a team with my partner and we lost but it was really fun and cool.

Updates for october, November, and december

The Geologic time period walk outside was a helpful activity for me to see how old the earth is and its history in nature. The Hexagonal thinking activities were fun but challenging because everything has to connect in different ways. The Quake feed app was fun to work with because you can see around the world and Earthquakes that are happening in our very own present time. The notebook notes are nice because you can learn easily with it. I also like it because you can color and its fun.

Updates for january, february, and march

In theses past three months we have done many activities, one of them were the "Build the launcher challenge" I liked that one a lot I partnered up with one of my classmates and we had a great launcher system. I also enjoyed the Stream Table It was fun to see how rivers weather and turn into oxbow lakes and many other ways, also we saw how the water streams in different directrions with the blue food dye. The Van de graaf generator was a fun project seeing how electrons move through the body and getting shocked a fun example to show the electrons really did move through your body. Thee Sphero project was hard, but fun to work with. We calculated how much force was in the Sphero mini, Sphero bolt and Sphero RVR

Updates for April and may

In these summer months we have done a lot of activities, I liked the Frogbit notes and projects. I liked how we researched it before to get an idea. My group enginnered a Frogbit catcher and ours worked great. The toothpicks took the Frogbit and we did good. Other projects were the rock pocket mouse project, we researched how its species changed while the climate changed and we did a keynote, I liked doing this because it helped us learn how evolution can change a lot of things.

Final thoughts on 8th grade science

I liked 8th grade science especially the EDC, the hungry hungry Sphero and I liked how we got to do water testing once in a while. We also got a lot of free time and got to use the Nintendo or the Oculus. I would like to learn more about Earth science but we still learned about good stuff. This year was really fun and enjoying.
