Welcome LB3.pdf

Welcome to my science website!

Here, I will share some of the things I'm learning in 8th grade science.

Our monthly goals will also be described. The goal for August and September was curiosity. Activities that we did for this were a microscopy lab, a Wonder Journal, water testing, a cicada lab, and a Hungry Hungry Sphero Challenge. My favorite was doing water testing because I enjoyed going outside and walking around town.

Update for October, November, & December

My favorite project so far would be the Seismic safe Building Challenge! I enjoyed working on this project because there was a lot of strategies need, and me personally I LOVE to build and problem solve. But most importantly I loved working with my teammate, she was very focused and wanted to have fun but caused no interference into what I was working with/on. I enjoyed the other projects too but this one would have to be my favorite overall. I´m very excited to see what other EDC´s we will work with!

Updates for January, February, and March

For this update I enjoyed the Stream Table, the Van de Graaf generator, and the Build a Launcher Challenge. The stream table was cool to watch as the water made trails in the sand, and the food coloring mixing together showing the pond/pool depth was also fun to watch. The Van De Graaf generator was really cool, when peoples hair would stick straight up and they would shock themselves. And lastly, I enjoyed the Build a Launcher challenge. It was my favorite, I enjoyed working with new people and creating new strategies.

Updates for April and May

For this update i enjoyed our Frog bit projects, water testing, chickenology, punnet squares, alien genetics, mitosis and meiosis, evolution, and rock pocket mouse projects. I definently enjoyed the frogbit priject the most, it wasn't really hard but also wasn't effortless.

Final Thoughts on 8th grade Science

Personally, I had a fun time in Mrs. Lacrosse's class. We did labs almost every few weeks and learned in a fun way, instead of sitting down copying notes, we were active, for example walking to different bodies of water to see the difference over time. What i enjoyed least was projects without partners and sitting around just copying notes. I would love to learn more about genetics in the future, it's very interesting to me. I'd definitely love to do more labs based on genetics.
