Welcome KW 5.pdf

Welcome to my science website!

Here, I will share some of the things that I am learning in 8th grade science.

Our monthly goal will also be described. The goal for August and September was curiosity. Activities that we did for this were our cicada lab, Wonder Journal, Hungry Hungry Sphero challenge, the microscopy lab, and water quality testing. My favorite was the microscopy lab.

Updates for October, November, and December

My quiz grades aren't too bad, but I still need to study more. I enjoyed Water Quality Testing a lot. I enjoyed this because we got to go walk outside and it was a super fun activity. The hexagonal thinking activities always get my mind thinking. Also, the Geologic Time Period activity that we did outside was nice because we got to get out of the classroom and learn at the same time. Almost all of our projects are super fun, especially since most of them are hands on and creative. Taking notes in our notebooks isn't always fun but they always help me remember things better. The Quakefeed App is definitely NOT my favorite. I just find it very boring, it's not very interesting to me. Finally, I think I need to improve many things, especially my tests, quizzes, and the time I spend studying.

Updates for January, February, and March

My grade is still pretty good and my quiz/ test grades aren't terrible. Although, I do need to start studying way more than I do. We completed a variety of activities in the past couple months. Some of my favorites were the Van de graaf generator, sketchnotes for Forces and motion, & the Static Charge video. Finally, the last thing I enjoyed was playing around with Newtons Cradle. We did it so many different ways and took some fun notes on it. I mainly liked it because it was a hands on activity. I tend to learn more when we do thing that way such as labs, demonstrations, and more.

Home Page Update

The punnet square was one of my favorite things to do. They were a little difficult to understand but I caught on quickly. Then, we did the alien gizmo as homework. I had a lot of fun with this. It was a creative and fun little activity that wasn't too much work. Then we did the rock pocket mouse activity and learned about that for a while. It was fun when we did the sketch notes and other things.

Final Thoughts

I enjoyed the water quality testing the most because we got out of the classroom. My least favorite was the gizmos. They took a very long time and weren't that fun. I would like to learn more about the life part of science. I don't really understand it.
