Welcome To My Science Website!

Here, I will share some of the things that I am learning in 8th Grade Science.

Our Monthly goals will also be described. The goal for August and September was curiosity. Activities that we did for this were a microscopy lab, a Wonder Journal, water testing,  a Cicada lab, and the Hungry Hungry Sphero challenge. My Favorite Activity was the water testing lab. This is because we got to go out and get the water, test the water, and we got to document all of it.

Update for October, November, & December

This Project was done in the 9th-period class Scientific Investigation. This was one of my favorites because it was hands-on and shows how baking soda affects vinegar and how it varies. I used different amounts of baking soda and vinegar and recorded how it affected it. We also used different-sized beakers to see how they affected the whole experiment. We Found out that the more mL of vinegar and more baking soda did in fact show a change in the diameter of the balloon on the beaker.

Updates for January, February, and March

Over these three months we have done a lot of science projects and experiments. Some of my top three would have to be the Van de graaf  generator, the stream table, and the "build a launcher challenge". I liked the Van de graaf generator because it showed how static charge can move from one body to another, and zap people. I liked the stream table because it was hands on and we were able to form and change it however we liked. Finally, I liked the "build a launcher" challenge because it lets you become creative and see things from different perspectives, like how you would build a launcher.

Updates for April and May.

For the past two months, we have done numerous projects such as Frogbit, WQT, Chickenology, Punnett Squares Genetics, Mitosis and Meiosis, and the rock pocket mouse. My favorite project would have to be the Frogbit EDC because we got to work with our friends and solve a real problem in nature. My least favorite would have to be the Rock Pocket Mouse because of how long It took to do.

Final Thoughts on 8th grade Science.

Over the last four quarters, we have done multiple lessons, Engineer design challenges, and water quality tests. In my opinion, my favorite project out of the whole year would have to be the water quality testing project. My least favorite I wouldn't be able to say because all lessons we have done have had some hands-on or fun part of it. In the future, I'd like to learn more about how the water quality in Huron has improved(hopefully) or gotten worse.
