Welcome Page

Welcome to my science website

Here, I will share some of the things that i am learning in 8th grade science.

Our monthly goals will also be described. The goal for August and September was curiosity. Activities that we did for this were a microscopy lab, a Wonder Journal, water testing, a cicada lab, and and a Hungry Hungry Sphero challenge. My favorite was Writing in the wonder journal because I had somewhere to right down all of my wonders.

Update for October November & December

I had a lot of experiences within these months in science class. My favorite things to do are the sketch notes. I think they are very simple and fun to do and I love designing what they look like and the format they will be in. I also like doing the Quizzes, because it gives me a better understanding of what we are learning. I think I have room to grow when I take notes in my notebook because I write way more than I actually need to. I´m getting better at the water quality testing and I´m learning how to use all the different devices. I also liked doing the Hexagonal thinking activity because you really have to use you brain. Those are some of my experiences and things I´ve learned and done in science class.

Update For January, February, and March

These past 3 months I have done a lot of things in science class. We talked about Newton´s Cradle and the different laws that go with it. We also did a Sketchnote for Forces in Motion and the Static Charge Video. Sketchnotes are probably my favorite thing to do because they give you a break from all the work and they are very layed back. Another thing we did was the stream table and we tested how water flows and the different parts of the river and how they form. One final thing we did was the Electricity and Magnetism Book Creator I  like how we get a deadline to finish it by and we can do the different pages at our own pace. That is some of the labs and experiences I´ve had in class recently.

Updates for April and May

The past 2 months I have done lots of things in science. We talked about frogbit and why it was bad. We also learned about punnett squares and mitosis and meiosis. We did a project about the Rock Pocket Mouse and how it adapts to the environment it lives in. We did a Water Quality Infographic and talked about how to tell if it is safe or not. We did an Alien Genetics Gizmo and a Chickenology Lab.

Final thoughts on 8th grade science

I really enjoyed science class this year. I enjoy doing all of the sketch notes on the iPad and writing the notes. The things I enjoyed doing the least are the homework worksheets. This is because there isn't really anything creative about it. Overall, science was a very fun class this year. I loved being creative and trying to problem solve I also loved all of the different tests and experiments we got to do. That is my opinion on 8th grade science class.
