Welcome to my science website!

Here, I will share some of the things i am learning in 8th grade science.

Our monthly goals will be described. the goal for august and September was curiosity. Activities we did were our Wonder Journals, the Hungry Hungry Sphero challenge, water quality testing, evaluating article authenticity, the cicada lab, and a microscopy lab

My favorite was the Hungry Hungry Sphero challenge, because I liked working in a group and the competition of drving the spheros.

October, November, and December Update

In October, November, and December, we learned about the Earth layers, plate boundaries, and earthquakes. Some of the activities we did included making a book about Ohio's geology, doing a project of our choice about the plate boundaries, and building a structure that would stand up in a fake earthquake.

My favorite project  was making something that represents the plate boundaries, because I liked working with the play dough an my group. I also think our project turned out looking really nice.

Updates for January, February, and March

We did a lot of fun things in January, February, ad March.  One of my favorite activities was the "Build a Launcher" challenge. Although my group couldn't get our catapult to hit the board, it was fun to collaborate with my group and see what other groups came up with. Another one of my favorite labs was the "Shoe Friction" experiment. I learned that my shoes had the most friction, because I had the most texture on the bottom of my shoes. I also really enjoyed the book creator-Electricity and Magnetism activity, because it was relaxing to type and play the word puzzles. I also learned a lot about magnetism, and the different ways magnets interact with each other while doing this activity.

Updates for April and May

I learned a lot with the activities we did April through May. The project we did the most recently was the Frogbits notes and project, which was a very fun drawing project. Some other drawing activities we did include the Water Quality Infographic project and the Rock Pocket Mouse project. Mitosis and Meiosis were very interesting subjects, because  we got to learn about  how the cells in our self work. Evidence for Evolution stations and chickenology labs were interactive labs that tough me a lot about how animals evolved to be the way they  are now. My favorite projects we did this year were Punnet square practice questions and the Alien genetics Gizmo, because genetics are my favorite subject to learn about.

Final Thoughts on 8th Grade Science

This year of science was very interesting, and filled with a lot of  fun, intractable projects. Although I enjoyed almost everything we did, the activity I enjoyed the least was the wonder journals, because we only used them about 2 times. I also didn't like having to record a video about the wonder journals, because I was very busy after school and recording a video was stressful. My favorites activities we did were the tectonic plate boundreis Playdough project, because I liked working with the Playdough  and my friends. i also like learning about genetics,  because filling out the Punnet squares was fun and easy. In the future, I wouls like to learn more about gentics, because I think learning about the probabilty of different traits is interesting.
