Welcome page

Welcome to my science website!

Here, I will share same of the things that I am learning in 8th grade science.

Our monthly goals will also be described. The goal for aguast and September was curiousity. Activities that  we did for this were. Our cicada lab, wounder journals, hungary hungary sphero challenge, microscopes, and water quality testing.

My favorite was the hungry hungry spheros.

Updates for October, November, and December

This year my favorite project has been the Earths creation project. I enjoy projects like that because I love to draw and be creative. I also really like that most of the work we do is either on a Chromebook or IPad. I just think it is easier to draw, take notes, and to take tests on those instead of paper and pencil. My second favorite project that we have done was the earthquake simulation where we built earthquake safe house out of cardboard, duck tape, and other materials. Me and CJ's project completed all of the requirements and stayed intact and stable. I feel like I have done a great job so far as completing my homework and projects on time. But one thing I think that i can improve on is studying for quizes and tests.

Updates for January, February, and March

So far this new year we have done many projects including book creator, sketch notes and so much more. First of all we built catapolts out of some random materials like cups paperclips, balloons, and rubber bands. Our idea was very good and ours was very accurate. We also learned about Newton's laws and Newton's cradle. A cool lab that we did was a pendulum lab which was a lab where we tested if the amount of swings would change if we changed the length of the pendulum and the weight. But most recently we have been learning about magnets and electricity. We have played with a ton of magnets and tested a bunch of electromagnets.

Updates for April and May

We have done many projects in these few months and this is what I think about them. Frogbit is an invasive plant species that has invaded our lakes and bodies of water. I made a bumper sticker that said,"Keep Calm and Save or Lakes", as a project. We also made a water quality infographic. We got the infomation from the water in the lake around Huron. Also a chickenology lab and practicing our punnett squares. Alien genetics, mitosis, and meiosis are also some things that we have learned in April and May. Lastly we completed evidense for evolution and the Rock Pocket Mouse project where we learned that animals sometimes have mutations that are good and some are bad. The good ones saved the rock pocket mouse making them able to blend into their surroundings.

Final Thoughts on 8th Grade Science

This past year in 8th grade sciencce I have learned a lot. I have enjoyed the projects and labs we have done. Most of the projects were fun and entertaining. I would maybe like to learn more about the environment and earth in the future.
