Welcome FJ 5.pdf

Welcome to my science website!

Here, I will share some of the things that I am learning in 8th grade science.

Our monthly goals will also be described. The goal for August and September was curiosity. Activities that we did for this were our cicada lab, Wonder Journals, Hungry Hungry Sphero challenge, the microscopy lab, and water quality testing.

Updates for October, November, and December

During these few months we have done a lot. Some of the thing that we have been doing include many projects, sketch notes, water testing, and using the Quakefeed app. Some of my favorite things to do are the many fun projects. Some of the projects include Books written with other people, Drawings, and buildings. most of these projects were done with a group or just a partner.  In these projects we were focused on different parts of science like plate tectonics, natural disasters, and other parts of science.

Update for January, Febuary, and March

Throughout these three months we have done a lot of cool project and focused on a good amount of new topics. We used the app book creator to create a book when talking about magnetism and electricity. I really liked this project because the book creator app is a very useful and easy tool and helps study all the information about the topics we are using it for. Also during these months we focused on newtons laws of motion. We worked with the newtons cradle during this and we also made a few different organizers along with many fun projects and experiments. The last thing i will talk about that we did during this time is working with the van de graaff generator. This was a fun experience because we got to see the effect of neutrons and electrons on our bodies and on the building.

Updates for April and May

In April we had many fun projects. Some of them are a Rock pocket mouse project, and a few projects relating to genetics. We focused on many areas of mutation and natural selection. In May, we did punnett squares, a frogbit project, studied mitosis and mieosis, and were reviewing water quality.

Final thoughts on 8th grade science.

I enjoyed science this year. I mostly enjoyed water testing, but there were also somethings i didn't enjoy such as note taking and some of the studies. These things however did not make this class less enjoyable for me. in the future i would like to learn more about life science and more about the different species that undergo some of the same science things as us.
